Default Johnson BB Engine??

I have an old Johnson engine that my father used 40-50 years ago, he then flew control line.
He flew all types stunt, speed etc.
I just want to know what this is, size and what type it was made for etc.

Put on an old Fuji 19 carb and a HP61 muffler and it started right up an ran great, it feels very strong.
I had a 10x6 propp and reved great with that.

Thanks.

Have you visited the MECOA web forum? There was some remarks made about Johnson motors there a good nine months ago. Moreover people there are looking for location of available parts.

One of Hi Johnson's .35's on pressure, swinging a 9/6 on a Super Swoop, or a Rat Racer was a joy to behold. They had a note unlike any other engine. They were real screamers in the 60's. I even tried one in a C-class Hell Razor in Speed, but I never could get the needed rev's out of it. They were and are great engines.

So is my old Johnson BB a .35 size engine?
I will try it in my Me 163 and see if it will make it fly.
Thanks.

The only concern that I would have is the size of the Carb that you have. You may get into a fuel starvation problem with a carb from a .19. I would suggest something from a .40 size engine. The engine may rune well enough with a small carb on a test stand, but flight loads may prove to be another thing altogether. I would maybe think about running a prop with a little less pitch with the .19 Carb on the engine.

Bill Thanks for the reply, even the fuji engine was running poorly with this carb
But I have no other carb that fits this engine.
Any tip on carb, manufacture?

Take care.

You might try locating a perry Carb, or find one with a similar bore as the intake of your Johnson.
