Default Kraft radio Guru needed for question

hi, ive had this TX 3 weeks now or so, single stick series seventy one
Gold Medal Series, I have no intention of altering it for use,
however i don't understand it, and I'm curious
k, i understand the rotary knob for rudder on the stick,
as well as aileron, elev, but where is the throttle?
there is what appears to be a trainer style port
for a cord or charger? on bottom of radio,
on the right of radio, ( same side stick is on)
there is a button like a trainer switch , a toggle switch
that has 2 positions and 2 trim tab like controls that move
without clicks, is one of those a throttle channel ? see blurry close
pics lol ,

Throttle is on the top of the side panel. Push toward the front for high throttle. Nice looking 6 channel. I've got a 4 channel SS series 70 Kraft that I flew for many years. I had it converted to 5 channel later.

the TX itself, is super clean, only thing i've done to it was remove those red letters OFF/ON ( added one by owner ages ago) sticky tape
things, the TX batt was removed ages ago so no damage or rot thankfully, so is this a 5 channel radio with the toggle for maybe
a landing gear etc? also whats the bottom slider do, trim for throttle? ( and I thought my super 9C was complex lol)

I forgot, the correct nomenclature for your radio would be “Series 71â€. The “Gold Metal†series was produced in 1968 and 1969. Afterward, the Series 7X progressed each year. Electronically, all were pretty much the same from 1968 through 1971. A few minor tweaks were made to the circuits, and the 71 had an isolated charger. The earlier units had the potential to shock you with household line voltage. The trainer feature was also added in 71.

It is a 6 channel with the toggle switch (for landing gear) and the sixth channel is the bottom lever on the side panel. The throttle trim is the trim level of the left side of the control stick.

Tony,
there should be a black plate on the bottom that will tell the model number serial number and year

Have to disagree about the trainer function. I've got a Series 70 without it, and the service manual also states Series 71. However, that being said, Kraft often slipped newer features into radios as developed and since the possible electrocution problem existed, they may have added it towards the end of production of Series 70. For instance, I’ve got a late model 1967 Kraft with KPS-9 servos instead of the KPS-7’s.

As to servo reversing, there were three types (maybe more), no dot, one dot, two dot (reversed again to be a no dot), ….

ugh, no back plate on bottom on this one, not sure it had one ( cant see any outline of such a thing) unlike yours there is a
sticker on rear of radio, that has no info, just says Kraft Series seventy one, its small though will get a pic of bottom later
there is a 4 digit number etched into the paint/metal with 1/4 inch high numbers , looks almost amateurish
that says 6237, also there are what look to be 2 empty screw holes about 5 inches apart , like they are missing
i can see the round outline of a screw head on gold paint like will get pic, in a sec,
k took a pic of the bottom of it, kind of blurry , as i rushed it lol to get it on here, but shows it ok'ish

that sticker on the back is not the year of the tx it is either from a reciever or a servo that someone stuck on the back.

They started making the metal data plates around 1967, my 67 has one, my 66 doesn't. It has a paper sticker inside the rear cover.

ugh, well that would explain ( possibly lol) why there isn't sticker on the RX maybe ?
to me with my limited knowledge on Kraft it looked like it was there since new
actually, there are 2 RX's with this set, will look in a few mins to see if one or both
have had stickers removed, me curious now lol

Getting back into the hobby after quite some time and have a Kraft Gold Spectrum 6 trans on ch, 52, 72.83.  Realize I'm going to need new batt to even think of using it.  Will it be safe?  Anything I should know about resurrecting this radio?  It was one of my favorites,

transmitter may be ok to use,is it am or fm? as they made both.if am you will need to find a narrowband reciever as the 6 channel rx that came with it is wideband.if fm any jr or airtronics fm rx will work.if am hen futaba, ace or hitec or even kmi or origunal kraft will have to be located.send the tx to radio south they can check it out and replace the batteries.

That transmiter was not a narrow band when it came from the factory, I have one that Pete Waters at Kraft Midwest converted to narrow band FM And matched a Kraft KPR8FD to it and is still a very reliable radio.
