Default Can You Identify this Old Timer?

I recently acquired this old timer and have enjoyed flying it.
It was probably originally a free flight model.
I have converted it to electric flight.
It is 3 channel with no ailerons.
Originally was probably free flight.

I have a 12X6 apc prop on it
and have used a 3 cell 3200 mah lipo and 4 cell 3200mah lipos.

On a calm day with some thermal activity it is not uncomon to get 45 to 60 minute flights.

Okay, so I love the plane. However there is much discussion in our club as to what model this really is?

I cannot seem to find out what model this is.
Can anyone help?

J

Here's an old add.
American Ace is my guess.

Both the 'American Ace' and the 'New Ruler' were designs of Henry Struck in 1940. Both were identical except for size. New Ruler had a 74" wing while the American Ace was either 36" or 54"

It is definitely an American Ace, class B free-flight. Back in the early forties I modified one by squaring off the wing tips and the elevator. The fuselage and rudder were as designed. See photos below. Note similarities.

I appreciate all the info guys. I'm beginning to believe that this aircraft is a "New Ruler". It has a 6' wingspan and the American Ace had a 4'.

here is some video footage I took today. This plane floats around forever. It even thermals like a sailplane.

Bill:

I'm surprised you don't recognize me! Photo taken in 1947 - so I was 17 at the time. Those old days in free-flight competitions were a big part of my life back then. I presume that you have been there and done that as well.

No Bob - the car is gone. Back then we never gave it a thought that someday it would be worth something, so they were traded or sold for junk.
