Ohlsson & Rice 60
Hi everyone, I'm new to the site, and honestly I"m here to see what the worth is of some old items are. My Dad passed recently and now I must go through his estate. I found this engine,an Ohlsson & Rice 60 serial no. 2233,the other night, I remember this engine being aroundfor as long as I've been on the planet (46 yrs). From the info I've found on this forum, it appears to have been built in 1940? I would like to sell it if there is any interest in it. Would likesome help on placing a value on it, if possible.I'm open to any and all offers. I'll try to post some pics.

Serial # tells me it is a 1941"Special". Early ones had a 1/4" crankshaft & later ones a 5/16" one. No black paint on the cylinders. As with all old engines condition is everything . Have gone on eBay for 100 to 265 dollars . Market seems down right now to me but the really good ones do sell but must be complete & nice. Good luck, Max H.

RE: Ohlsson & Rice 60
Thanks for the info. It does have a black cylinder though, and a brass? eagle emblem with a 60 in it on the cylinder. It's mounted on a board with a coil? and does have a woodenpropattached as well. The prop is a "Ritz super airflow" and is approx. 13" in length.
I finally figured out how to upload pics,so here it is.

The coil, all parts associated with, and the prop will all bring a better price on fleecebay. If there are any connectors, wires, switches etc, be sure to include those as they are hard to find and add to the value. The prop could be a rare old collector prop as well...so you will want to take good clear pics of it all when you post them for sale..

Then it is a "Custom" . O&R has a serial # overlap on some early ones.If a 1/4" shaft & 1/4" spark plug it is early . Later 1940 ones have a 5/16' shaft & a 3/8" spark plug . These have a needle bearing on the crank shaft that fall out if taken apart. Price is about the same as the other one ,maybe 25 bucks more . Again condition is everything. Max H.

In 1947 I paid $12.95 for the O/R 60 and now they are going for between $175-200 and from your pics
I would say yours would bring somewhere in the top of that range. I am assuming it turns over freely
and I can see it has all the parts that came with it new.

Thanks Sarg, yes it does turn over easy andseems to have good compression. I glad to hear that it is complete, minus the float bowl which is shot.
