Sterling Scale Model kit FS#33

Hi All,
With all the Sterling models threads posted here lately, I thought I'd post a pic of my Stinson SR-8 (sans engine). I started building it in the late 70's, finished covering and painting it in the late 80's and now it's just a hangin' there :p I have an OS FSR .45 with a pitts style muffler for it for power should I ever decide to fly it. Truely outstanding job! I have one "in process" as well. Definitely a labor of love. Hope you get a chance to fly it soon, as I need to hear about your experiences prior to pulling up elevator myself. Thanks for sharing! OldSterling |

OldSterling,
Thanks! I remember having a problem with one of the fuselage halves warping after pulling it off the building board. It took a little effort, but I managed to get it straightened out before joining it with the other half. I'm very happy with the way it built up though. This plane came out a little on the heavy side after all of the paint was applied (Randolph's butyrate dope). I'm re-learning R/C after a 22+ year break, so maybe if I get proficient enough one day I'll fly it. I've been perusing the pages of your website and I must say it has been quite a walk down memory lane ;) :) :D I built Guillow's, Comet, Jetco and other kits, but Sterling was always my favorite! Take care, Scott |
