Vintage Suevia - advice on getting her going ?
 

Hi guys -n- gals. I was visiting an old Amishman yesterday who helped me with getting an old maytag twin going. I showed him the two airplane engines I picked up at auction last Saturday (a Brown Jr. and a Vivell on a display stand) and he showed me a large " Suevia GMBH" engine that's been shelved for who knows how long. It has the number 278 under the name, and it looks a lot like one that was on Ebay listed as a 252 mk I (25cc). He asked me if I would want to set it up on a stand and get it running for him. Of course I do, but I have concerns. It seemed very stiff so when I got home, I applied zoom oil to the piston and main bearing (through the grease port). That loosened it up, but it still does not feel too smooth turning the hub by hand. So I'm worried about possible corrosion leading to bearing failure. There's no obvious signs it was ever run or mounted for that matter. Thoughts ?
If its never been run, some might say its best left oiled up and display it as a vintage collectable ? yes/ no ? The old man likes engines that can be run.
Questions: 1. Prop size. I'm guessing 8 or 10 " 2. Fuel. I live in the sticks. No hobby stores. No local clubs that I'm aware of. Will UPS carry fuel ?
3. Battery voltage / amps ? 4. What are the hose barbs sticking out of the muffler for ? There's one on top and one on the bottom.
Also, any idea the H.P. of this little beast ?
One other thing I got at the auction is a 12v. starter for model planes ! Paid $4. for the starter and $20. for the two engines.
