COX Part

I am needing a new or like new fuel tank for a COX "RR1" .049 engine . This is the blue one with bands machined around it . Please see what you may have in your old parts boxes . Thanks much, MAX H.

Good luck!
I had one. NOS. I was hoping to get $20 for it.
It went...just the tank front...for $143.

Think that the person that paid that much for it must have really wanted it or got the dreaded bidding feaver. The Anderson price guide is no doubt on the low side but a person has to start somewhere. A complete engine is hardly worth that much . If all else fails ,in the junk box with it but it's getting full of some of my great eBay buys . Thanks Much, MAX H.

RE: COX Part

Forget Andersons! Not all of Anderson's is low, some of it is very overpriced. Still a great read, and much better than no guide at all. Cox stuff is hot, as it should be.
A complete and nice RR1 is worth $200 plus. Worth it, one of the most rare and interesting Cox engines.
So, you got an RR1 with a bad tank? Maybe it's worth more in parts? Or maybe you can have it re-anodized.

RE: COX Part

I was out of the country when the RR1 came out but doubt if I would have bought one anyway . Maybe I should have said that I have what looks like a new RR1 crankshaft that I would trade for a tank . I often wondered how the induction was set up & found out it is nothing new . Several older engines used the rear rotary drum induction but none that small. The engine was flown & the over flow tube broken off , then the tank in that area was ground down so they could try to solder the hole up ,didn't work. The tube I can make or pull from a Golden Bee or what ever else had the tube but the ground area is a tough one . May just replace the tube & sell it to some one that just wants a runner. Will these work better with a TD head ? Thanks , MAX H.

Max,

The crankpin on a RR-1's crank is longer and has a small step in it to key into the drum. Is this what you have?

Later,
Tim

RE: COX Part

Hi Tim , Yes the crank has the step on the pin & is for a RR-1. It was in a COX parts bag & I thought it was a new one BUT the front end is broken off that goes in the thrust washer . JUNK. Now when you re-blue the tanks or whatever do you take the old all off or what? Mine needs the fins cleaned up ,do you do that or me ? Let me know. Thanks ,MAX H.
