Berkeley 1/2A Privateer Wanted
 

Have plan for the 1/2A Privateer but a lot of the parts outlines aren't shown. Does anyone have one of these kits? I want to build a 2X version (36" X 2= 72" span) and preserve the original. Any help,leads appreciated!

Greetings to you from Florida.

I have a real simple solution for you; if you have access to, or have some old Flying models magazines check the following seaplane designs:

Scavenger-plann # CF6, a amphibious 77" ws flying boat design by Don McGovern, FM 8/62

Piranha...............CF63 " 74" " " " 12/66

There are several other McGovern designs mentioned in the FM plans catalogue, but no photos are included. I believe D. McGovern designed the Berkeley Navigator, and Monster/Custom Privateer flying boat models. I have a set of the Scavenger plans, and it is very, very close to the Navigator's lines.

Dear Joe,
I have a Jetco Navigator and the plans for Magovern's Monster(future project). I just like the lines of the 1/2A Privateer but 36" is a little too small for me.Thank you for your suggestion, I'll check out the two you mentioned, but I'm not yet willing to give up the search. Someone must have a less than perfect one that they would be willing to part with. Regards, Bob

There was a Berkeley 1/2A Privateer kit that went on ebay, 6/13/05, for $87.00. You see one on ebay every now and then!!!! I built one in the early 60's that went OOS. I still have the original plans. Good luck.

I to am looking to enlarge the planes to a 60 plus size. I started looking to find the planes to a plane I built in 1947. I was a amphibian which I believe was called the Flamingo.
If you can get the planes let me know.
