Delanne Cannon-plane

1 Attachment(s)
While perusing some very old (1938) magazines I ran across plans/drawings for a rubber-band powered plane.

The article was titled "New French Cannon-plane"

Intrigued, I read on. It was called the Delanne cannon-plane. I copied the article and scanned it. Below are clips of the two "photos" included with the article. Excuse the quality. It was the best the copier could do.

Anybody heard of it? Have more information on it?

Thanks,

Lyndon

That is truly wild and wonderful! I hope someone can shed some more light on this model including plans!

A Google search on Delanne Cannon-plane turned up 6 listings. It seems that there are some items on eBay. Info current as of this posting.

recall that it was another French revolutinalary plane, carry a cannon in addition to the normal forward fireing guns. as usual it didn't prove too sucessful. there were quite a few models of it. sure would like a copy of the plans, any size, as I do my own upscaleing. dick

I googled too. Followed the ebay links, but they didn't pan out. (either that or I missed something.)

The "plans" that came with the article are pretty simple. They're drawn on grids, that need to be upscaled.

If I read the plans right, the wingspan looks to be 21", and the fuselage is 16" long.

I can email the complete article to anyone who wants it.

If anybody uses them to upscale to an RC bird. I'd like a copy the bigger plans....

The Delanne duomonoplane was featured on the cover and with an article in an old Air Trails magazine. It was actually fairly successful. The British converted a Lysander to this design and test flew it with good results. Bert Streigler has published a couple of construction articles for RC duomonoplanes. Sorry, I don't know where. There was CL constructon article by Calhoun Smith in the October 1950 Air Trails. Also a free flight power model published somewhere, called, I think, the Alky II.
