Have you tried FMS? It's free to download and you can get alot of different aircraft to fly in it. It's not going to be as realistic as G3 but it will teach you orientation. I used FMS for awhile and it did help alot.

The physics are more realistic in G3, But with FMS you can use your own controller as long as you have a trainer port and usb dongle. Also you can use a psuedo playstation controller in FMS and that works well also If you use the analog sticks. FMS is somewhat easier to control the models which leads to a false sense of learning BUT it will teach you orientation. You still have to react to keep from crashing which helps alot in making snap decisions without second guessing.

Clearview is the next step up from FMS. I think it cost $30 and you can download it instantly. I have all three, FMS, CLearview, and RealFLight. Realflight is obviously better than the other two, but Clearview is well worth the money. You can use a regular, game joystick or controller or build a cable and use one of the free drivers to run your real Tx.

Speaking of the cable, Where can one find a usb cable for the Axe controller?
