Axe CP

Hey guys, I'm also new to this thread as are many here, and I was really looking at the Axe CP.

I love how it comes with training gear, stock heat sinks, and A TAIL ROTOR. I don't like the coaxial looks too much.

So anyways, I saw that the axe cp now comes with a $50 merchandise rebate or $25 cash from towerhobbies, and I can get another $25 off as well. So it would be about $130 shipped, and it looks sweet. Also, I can get pretty cheap parts.

So my question is: Can I learn how to fly helis with this helicopter??? It is my first, but it comes with training gear and a DVD, so if I take it easy, will it be okay? I know it has wood blades, and it doesn't have a LiPo, so that scares me a little, but 3D ready is sweet!

Thanks for your help in advance

...it's in large font and all caps...you can't help but agree... ;)

During your shopping, some may discourage you and suggest other comparable models, such as the Blade, Honeybee, and Falcon. But the fact of the matter is, they all have their little quirks and problems - it comes ultimately down to luck and preference really. So, if you've decided on the Axe, I'm all for it! My first R/C and first helicopter is also the Axe CP - I've been going at it since April and it's been a great experience.

Cool, thanks guys. My LHS always says go for the E-Flight Blade CX2, and I like the DSM radio, but 3D ready and a tail rotor is all I need. Thanks guys!!!

Also, does the Axe have enough power to do this?

Yes, but, ummmm, why? :)

I learned CP with a Blade CP Pro. Pro: if you can fly a BCPP you can fly anything; con: if you can fly a BCPP you can fly anything :). The Axe is probably the friendlier of the tail motor helis, and other than the blade grips pretty durable.

The CX2 is a lot easier to fly but you won't learn a lot from it besides the basic controls-- it doesn't fly like a "real" helicopter. If you want something like the CX2 for an easy intro, get the ESky Lama instead. It's under $100 so it's a safe buy.
