What else will be damaged? Axe cp
Got a AXE cp from a friend who realized he could not fly the thing after several crashes. He went through blades and blade grips.
I got the heli now and the feathering spindle is bent(that is the piece the blade grips screw into?) I've got a new set of blades and blade grips, what else should I look into replacing? The fly bar is bent as well.. ......also any of these parts work from an eflite(the feathering spindle?) the Local LHS has eflite parts and ordering from tower hobbies is annoying waiting several days for a 3$ part :(.. |
RE: What else will be damaged? Axe cp
So far, blades, tail boom, blade grips, feathering spindle.

RE: What else will be damaged? Axe cp
actually the tail boom doesn't look bent in any way, not even scrapped or kinked at all. I just am not sure how to verify everything in the head is ok, the bent feather spindle is pretty obvious, and makes one nasty vibration.

Well, one hard sideways landing and the tail boom will get it! I bought some plastic flat bottom blades from helidirect.com - half of what the one shot your out wood blades cost from the LHS. Plus it is stated they last longer!

If you haven't flown it before, check to make sure the electronics are responding correctly - a bad crash can leave servos pretty shaken up and lead to fatal glitch in the air. Just power on and then move your controls around, first subtle inputs then bigger inputs. Also, check if the main rotor shaft is bent. If a vibration becomes a violent shake from 0% to 50% throttle then the shaft may need to be straightened out again or replaced. Lastly, check the rotor head assembly for minor cracks in links or anything like that. This is essentially a pre-flight check, I suppose.
As for alternate parts, I don't quite remember what can be borrowed from E-Flite for the Axe, but going through [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_5579975/tm.htm]this thread[/link] will give a good idea of what you can use. |
