axe cp inverted?
I have been looking for some videos of inverted axe cp's but have only found 1 and the guy crashes

RE: axe cp inverted?
Helimax has some promo videos you can get to from the tower hobbies product page. I have only seen one contributor vid with inverted flight, but that was a while ago.

RE: axe cp inverted?
Eeeeky's videos are what your looking for, he does a bunch of inverted stuff with his AXE CP, Blade CP, Swift 16, etc.
Here's one of my favorites: [link=http://www.myrctoys.com/embedded-videos/axe-cp1.html]AXE CP Inverted[/link] He has several other videos posted on You-Tube, just search RC Helicopters. Rick |
RE: axe cp inverted?
The AXE CP is capable of inverted flight, but piloting skills are not included :D

RE: axe cp inverted?
"Some re-assembly may be required, replacement parts & mechanical skills not-included!"

RE: axe cp inverted?
This over confidence and inverted thread got me to thinking. Why can't I do it, flip 'er over. Well, this was my second attempt and it was a disaster. Once my heart quit pounding from the first flight contemplating going inverted, I sat in the truck warming and visualizing my inverted hover.
Took her up high and rolled it backward and added negative collective to compensate. Well, it began to climb so I let up on the collective and it came back down right towards me over my head. Two more up and down cycles with rotation thrown in and next thing I know its headed down. Tried to flip 'er back upright but it was too late. More broken plastic parts for bin 86. Saved all electronics and servos, thank God. Getting inverted is gonna be rough. I can do it all day on the sim, why not for real? |
RE: axe cp inverted?
PilotLight,
Congratulations on your bravery! Condolences on your mishap. [:o] I look forward to the day when I can fly it to the point that I even dare to start thinking about doing what you tried. Keep trying, I'm sure you'll get there long before I do. :) |
RE: axe cp inverted?
it seems so slow compared to other heli videos I have watched

ORIGINAL: paulaballa it seems so slow compared to other heli videos I have watched Anyone who can fly a heli inverted so well that they can just walk up to the side of it and grab it out of the air is a teriffic pilot in my book =) This reminds me of the video's I've watched where they had a metal framework type tunnle with a vertical exit, and all the yanker banker fliers couldn't make it through the simple deal, and something like a doz or more Trex's met their maker =P On the other hand some of the japeneese style pilots are really good at something like that, but I dunno how they were perform at the yankin and bankin stuff. If you want to see how good those pilots are look up something like japaneese helictoper game show on youtube. It really is incredible to watch them and how much control they have over a heli and exactly where it is |

RE: axe cp inverted?
Just got to thinking about flying this bird inverted. Most all of the videos of guys flippin' this thing over have Axe's with HH gyros installed. Are there any vids of the stock heli inverted besides the DVD that came with it? Is it possible to learn to fly a "rate gyro heli" inverted without breaking the bank?
Has anyone done it here? |
RE: axe cp inverted?
You can do it with smooth inputs. When you start yanking the sticks around is when the smaller helis get really upset. I would suggest starting with a Loop. This will allow you to get a feel of the - needed to hold inverted. Most pilots yank to much in and then you bog down the head speed. Once again sudden moves are not good!! The heading hold gyro won't do anything to preserve head speed.

RE: axe cp inverted?
Thanks Jason,
I tried to pull nose up to a 90 degree and then bring it back down a few times before going all the way over. I had control for a few up and down pulses of the collective (over control), then it came at me a and I panicked. Funny thing is, I went to a hobby shop that had a couple flight sims and tried to fly them upside down and had the same results. Lost it after a about 15 seconds and crashed. I can fly the FMS inverted, but it is while using a Microsoft Sidewinder Joystick. The tail is controlled by twisting the joystick instead of left and right stick input. I think concentrating on the other hand (left instead of right) and the lack of a HH gyro freaked me out. Now, I'm afraid to try again without getting a TX for the sim. |
