G90 mounting??

1 Attachment(s)
Ok well I bought myself a Eflite G90 gyro and wanted to know if this was a good way to mount this or not. I put it in the same place as pretty much everyone else does and used the included foam tape, but it just didn't seem to be very sturdy. So for a added piece of mind I wrapped a zip tie around it with fuel line as a cushion.

Anyways look at the pic I included and let me know if this is ok or not, I just don't want any unnessecary vibs going to the gyro if you know what I mean.

Thanks.

I have a similar sized and shaped gyro and I mounted mine on the right side of the frame instead of on top. I started out with mine on top but too many vibrations went to my gyro, so that's why I moved it. I do see that a lot of people have theirs like you showed, so it might've just been that my heli vibrated a bit more than others. This is just another option. Keep in mind that if you mount yours on the right like I did, you'll have to reverse either the gyro or the channel. I can't remember which one needs reversing when the gyro gets flipped around.

I mounted mine under the frame to prevent it from being struck by a blade during a mishap. Just used double stick foam tape and its stuck really well. Be sure and clean both surfaces with rubbing alcohol before sticking. Actually, I tried to remove it to split the frame to insert the new tail boom and it wasn't going anywhere.

Thanks for the ideas. PL I like how you have yours, but I don't think I have enough wire to go down there... might have to rearrange some wires and give it a shot sometime.

You think that the zip tie will bring any bad vibrations into the gyro at all??

RE: G90 mounting??

I had no probs by mounting on the top. But it is a GY240.
I am hard pressed to understand any difference in vibration transfer by mounting it on the side vs. top, but hey... it worked for you.
You might consider puting it on the left side though since it would be less likely to be struck by the spinning parts in a mishap.
