RE: starting problem

hey ryan Im not to sure exactly on that model I have a zxx with the belt start but on my EVO .50 the hex coupler was spining on the shaft that comes out of the clutch, I know this cause after spining it over smoke was coming from it and it was damn hot, does it have a one way bearing on it, if so check to see that the bearing is not broken ie: cage is intact rollers are not missing, also if it has a one way are you turning it the right way,( just checkin), The shaft that goes through the clutch and connects with the crank shaft of the engine, does the Fly wheel and the fan turn the same. On my starter the aluminum cone off the end of the end was slipping and it apeared to be a heli problem but it was a starter problem, the clutch could be part of the problem if it is sprung open, can the engine turn over WITH OUT turning the Main blades either direction use your fingers to turn the engine and see, if the clutch is sprung, while trying to start the engine you should feel the main rotor trying to turn there could be many different things start at the top with the starter and look over every thing you'll find it if there is a problem just look and see what makes sence and what don't, Good luck bud!
