My charger will not connect to the transmitter electrically to recharge the battery. The side contact seems to be too far from the center pin to contact the side of the charger jack. With a small insulated brass tube slid over the transmitter charge jack center pin and a "T" pin inserted to contact the side contact using small jumpers from the charger jack to the transmitter it will charge.
Can I remove the back of the transmitter without any unwanted surprises and access the charge socket and bend the contact in so it will make contact with the charger jack?

That will not gain you any more access to the charge receptical as it is a sealed unit. Are you using the wall charger that came with the radio or something else to charge the transmitter?
