Default Servo amp draw?

Just recently asked in the Futaba support forum, what the capacty of the R617FS rx is, regarding amount of servos it can handle. The reply was this:

As long as you don't exceed 8 Amps at peak and 3 Amps continuous, you'll be OK.

Ok that said, I also had listed what servos I plan on using, this first;

Right from Hitec
My question:: I just recently bought (5)- HS-225MG’s, (2)- HS-645MG’s, (2)- HS-85MG’s and (1)- HS-81, all of which suggest they can run at 6.0V.
Can they/will they accept the use of a Life battery @ 6.6V?

Answer:Any servos that are rated at 6V will typically be fine at 6.6v.

Here's how they will be used:

a totoal of 10 all Hitec's

5-HS-225MG's-2-aileron, 2-elevators 1-steering

2-HS645MG's-flaps

2-HS85MG's- rudders

1-HS81- retract valve

Now how do I figure out if they meet this objective?
As long as you don't exceed 8 Amps at peak and 3 Amps continuous, you'll be OK.

Just want to get this set-up right the first time. HELP ME OUT, PLEASE!t

Whilst a theoretical sum could be provided, there are to many variables depending upon the installation of each servo,
the power source, the wire gauge employed and the quality of the leads and connections.
If battery telemetry is not available, use a watt meter to confirm standing drain, operating no load and then check with a little
pressure on at least two surfaces, say rudder and elevator.

With regard to not exceeding the current through the receiver, this can be discounted by using separate batteries for each servo:
. Dual batteries - Multiple Batteries may be installed for redundancy or even one for each servo.

. Servo - How to calculate Servo Extension Lead Gauge Required for Analogue & Digital Servo

Previous information relating to servo current draw:
. Hitec RCD Servo Current Draw
(current draw not now included all servo due to the many variables)

. Servo Current & Stall Torque, Stall Current, Current Drain - a 101 on "Actuators - Servos" by Society of Robots.

. Current Draw of HS-55's
extract
"just measured the current drawn by several servos (all are NIB) with a 4-cell 600mAh NiCd pack
(the measured voltage with a MPX Pico 6ch. Rx and the servo tested is 5.0V): [table]
|-|-|-
Servo | Idle (not moving) | Moving, no load | Stalled [mA]
-||-|
Hitec HS-55....................| 8 | 160 | 380
MPI MX-30.......................| 4 | 260 | 450
GWS Park HPX..............| 9 | 600 | 1400
GWS Micro 2BBMG......| 9 | 600 | 1450
Hitec HS-5625MG..........|<10 | 600 | 1500
|-|-| "
Increase all the above exponentially if used with a 5 cell NiMH/NiCD or Life battery pack
This as the higher the voltage the higher the current draw.

Digital servo:
. Digital Servo Q&A
Q. How much amperage does a digital servo draw?
A. It depends on the servo and the load. For standard sized digital servos, a good rule of thumb is 2A at max torque.

Precaution against jammed servo:
. install a 5 amp Fuse to Protect Against Dead Short Melt-downs.

With regard to your particular servos, current drain:
HS-225MG: Current Drain (4.8V): 8mA/idle and 300mA no load operating Current Drain (6.0V): 8.8mA/idle and 340mA no load operating
HS-645MG
Current Drain (4.8V): 8.8mA/idle and 350mA no load operating. Current Drain (6.0V): 9.1mA/idle and 450mA no load operating
HS-85MG
Current Drain (4.8V): 8mA/idle and 240mA no load operating. Current Drain (6.0V): 8.6mA/idle and 260mA no load operating
HS-81
Current Drain (4.8V): 8.8mA/idle and 220mA no load operating. Current Drain (6.0V): 9.1mA/idle and 280mA no load operating

Default RE: Servo amp draw?

Thanks A.T. I will go though it and digest the info. The other simple solution is to run two rx's, I do have another one. Will certinly take out the guess work!!
