Mike I finally got my RE 12s after a 5 month wait. Before charging i looked at the manual, the charger and the Tx. There is a HUGE sticker on the Tx and countless references in the manual that this radio uses a Nickel Metal Hydride accu.
The charger I got with the radio clearly says that this is a NiCad charger. What is it going on.....can you please explain this?

The supplied charger works just fine, but slowly. Be careful using other chargers. There is a 1 amp limit if you charge in the case. There is a voltage limit as well.

I have settled on using the supplied wall wart for this transmitter. There is thermal protection in the pack to prevent heat from overcharging burning anything up, so the wall wart won't kill anything if left on too long. The on board voltmeter and gas gauge stuff will keep you informed well in advance so you won't be surprised by a low battery. The wart is slow, it will take more than 24 hours to charge a dead battery. On the other hand, the battery will run the transmitter for 9 hours or so when fully charged. I find that if I charge it up every week or so I have plenty of juice.
