Mine does also..I remember to charge it well in advance..

If the programmer is going to sit for any length of time you can unplug the battery to keep it from discharging as fast. There is a slight current draw from the programmer when the switch is "off".

Why is there current flow in the circuit with the power
switch off ? The circuit does not need memory power.
