I have 2 Hitec 605's in the tail of my fun-fly for elevator and rudder.
The other day, I landed and noticed that I had no servo movement. I was completely dead and not move in any direction. However, it would hold the neutral position only in one direction. In other words, if I tried to push the servo arm forward, it would not move, if pulled the arm would move but very very slowly get back to neutral and then die again.
I replaced the servo, but the same exact thing happened to the elevator servo and this time caused the plane to crash.
Any idea of why this would happen.
Thanks.

Hello Mike.
I took the servos apart and plugged them into a completely redundant system i.e. Rx & battery. No switch or extensions.
The gear trains are absolutely fine. The motor runs in both directions and stops when controlled by the pot (turning by hand).
However, it doesn't respond to stick movement. Also, the circuit board seems to be hot to the touch.
Thanks.

Hi,
It would sound like something is frying your servo amp. I would breakout the meter and check for shorts in the servo wiring and extensions with the leads disconnected of course. It happened twice to two different amps, so it is likely caused by the cabling or RX bus problem. Good luck.

Sounds like you have a problem with the servos of themselves, seems odd they would both fail with similar attributes. It’s difficult to diagnose this type of problem online... To eliminate the cause and affect of the servo damage can you check and validate the extensions to the elevator servos.
The 605 are dated servos; however Hitec Service can support them for you. I would suggest returning them to the Service Department for a check-up. A Service Tech will contact you prior to repairs with charges if any.
