Default Discontinued Servos

Hi Mike,

I noticed that one of the major e-retailers lists the HS-545 as discontinued. Is this true? Are there other servos that have been recently discontinued?

The HS-545 has been my favorite sport servo in the Hitec line. I hate to see it go... I found the 5 pole motor superior and economical. I'm concerned that digital sport servo in the same price range may not have gears as strong as the 545. Specifically HS-545BB compared to HS-5475 HB. Both are rated at 76oz @ 6V, however 400 series Karbonite VS 500 series nylon??? Can the 400 series Karbonite handle the shock load 500 series nylon appears to take?

If not, what is your recommendation?

Thanks,
Scott

Yes, the 5XX series servos are discontinued. I would not hesitate to use the 475/5475 in any application that you used the 5XX series.

Mike,

I'm sorry to hear the 5xx series servos are being discontinued. I have no experience with the 4xx series (3 pole) or their digital cousin. I was very happy with the speed (525) and torque (545) strength (525mg) and economical resolution (5 pole) found in the 5xx series servos. I will now broaden my search for a new replacement.

What about offering a digital based on the 5xx series?

I know... I was a big fan of the 5XX series servos as well, but the new digital stuff is better. I'd look at the 6635HB as a replacement. I really like these servos as they are very smooth and center well for a reasonalbe price.

Mike,

The 6635HB looks like a good replacement based on performance. I suppose I'll have to get used to spending more to stuff my sport planes[&o]... 60% more!

The 635HB would be the closest direct replacement at a similar price.
