I'm planning on getting some of the 7955TG's and it's looking like they aren't readily available yet. Most online dealers show them as backordered or expected delivery dates of late May. Say it ain't so!!!
Anyone know when they're hitting the shelves?

thanks,
Tailgunner

Anxiously awaiting release date info. I've toasted the servo in my crawler and am trying to decide between a 5955tg and waiting for the 7955. Any comment on how the testing methodology that showed the 5955s to lose power would compare to real-world use in a crawler? Also, are there any upgrades outside of improved resolution?

There is no set release date at this time... I'm thinking July/Aug.

We've yet to test them in a crawler but I'll see about doing that.

It is true that when an electic motor is overheated it loses power. This is true for servos as well. I have suggested to many crawlers that using a fan on the servo would improve performance and reliablity. Something like this: http://www.hobbypeople.net/gallery/551797.asp

The overload protection and 2X resolution are the two main upgrades although the motor is different and is reported to have more torque even though they are rated the same.

The chances that this guy actually has true 7955's are slim and none and slim just left town!!!

The picture is the same as is on our website: http://www.hitecrcd.com/servos/show?name=HS-7955TG

Somebody ask him to send you a picture of the actual product and see what he says!

Mike-

I'd be really interested in knowing what kind of testing methodology you end up using for crawlers. I suspect that the higher resolution won't be of much interest, but that the overload protection might be. There are lots of guy toasting 5955s and 8711s out on the rocks, especially in the larger super class rigs. Even in my Axial I completely destroyed (stripped multiple gears) the gear train of my burly Airtronics in about 3 months of comp and recreational use. If there are any opportunities to assist in testing I'd be really interested.

Also, any chance they'll make these in white or some other reflective color? The lack of cooling circulating air and exposure to direct sunlight seem to make the servos heat up more during the summer. The 110 degree temps here in Colorado don't help much, either.

Well I sent the guy an e-mail asking for pictures of the actual servos just as you suggested, and as I suspected I got no response....

I must admit to being somewhat skeptical about ever seeing the 7955's or why they are so late now. They were originally supposed to be out 1st quarter of this year, then April, then May, then June, now you're saying July/August?

The other 7XXX servos seem to be available what's the deal with the 7955's? They wouldn't be holding those back trying to get rid of all the 5955's floating around out there would they?????

Sorry to be so cynical, but I've already bit the bullet for a new programmer and I've got a new 2.6 Comp-Arf waiting for servos. But I'm not going to buy 5955's only to have the 7955's show up the next week

I too have a plane or too I would love to put these servo's in. it's either these or 8711's, and I can tell you right now that I am not going to hold out until august.

Any update on the release date if these servos? I have a new plane that I am putting together also that I need servos for here in the next few weeks. I too cannot wait until August/September.

I think that the 7955's would be great to have, but the 5955TG's are essentially the same, and are available NOW.

TBM has good prices on the 5955's, and I think that I would prefer them over the JR 8711's, ONLY because of the titanium geartrain (even though the JR's do have higher torque). Of course, if you really NEED 400 oz-in of torque, then the choice is obvious.........

Mike,

Is it OK to run the 7955 directly on LiPo power? I have an application for a Jet - where they recommend JR8411. I'm thinking of the 7955 or 7954SH instead... can you comment?

Thanks

Hermann
