Servo programmer

Hi Mike---I have the "Hitec Servo Programmer" & cannot keep the on/board battery charged ---After I use it, (nice tool!) which is not very often, & then in a week or two, try to use it again, the battery is completely dead. Have tried different battery...same thing. there is obviously a small current drain with switch off,(batteries will stay charged when removed from unit). Is this normal?---Please advise---

Unfortunately its normal behavior for the programmer. It has something to do with the power routing.

Eh? That sounds like a bad design choice -- if it runs the battery down each time it's not used for a while then some of those cells will be reverse polarised and that'll damage them so that they no longer hold a charge for long.

It sounds like unplugging or pulling out the battery is a good idea -- if it's user-accessible.

I suspect this is the price one must pay for not having a good old fashioned mechanical power switch.

They all do it... I've never had one go into cut-off or cell death / reversal though. Just got into charging before use since it is not used very often.
