Hitec question for Mike Mayberry and Tony

Mike and Tony, what are the differences between the Eclipse 7 and the Optic 6 other than the additional channel? I've tried to do the complete comparison, but have been unable to find all of the necessary information. Can I download the owner's manuals for these radio systems from the Hitec website? Most of the consumers that I have contacted said that unless you absolutely need the additional channel, they would buy the Optic 6 over the Eclipse because it is a better value. Would you agree? Do these radios both offer the same programming capability when it comes to flying sailplanes? Does the Optic 6 offer anything that the Eclipse doesn't? And if I were to buy an Optic 6 off the shelf tomorrow, what are the chances that the firmware bug I've heard about would be there? Has this problem been fixed in the radios that were recently shipped? Thanks for your help.

RE: Hitec question for Mike Mayberry and Tony

The Programming in the radios is similar but there are some differences. The Optic does not separate Glider functions from airplane fuctions like the Eclipse. This means that you would be able to use Crow (butterfly) in a powered plane. Another difference is that the Optic has sliders mounted on the side of the radio to control channel 6 where as the Eclipse is a knob on the top.

There are a few other differences that can be found in the manuals of each radio. You can download both manuals from our website.

As for the throttle sub-trim bug, radios we are shipping now have the updated software, but I cannot say what is available on the shelves of most hobby shops.
