Hitec Eclipse Question

First of all I'd like to say that I have had no problems what so ever with my new Eclipse Spectra system. I used to use the JR 347 so programming was nothing new.
My Question...
I've got an aircraft that is set up using the Acro settings. It was flown using a single aileron servo but after realizing that it was landing really hot, I added a second aileron servo so that I could use flaperons to slow the landing down a bit. After setting the FLPN to on and setting the FLPT to "0", I set the right and left airerons throws and endpoints to specs. I then went back and added 30 percent to the FLPT setting and noticed that while doing this, both ailerons went up as in the spoiler position. This is when the ch 6 (VR1 knob) is turned all the way to the left which I now see is the negative side. So correct me if I'm wrong but using this option allows not only flaperons but also spolierons...right. But I would just have to make sure that the knob is at its "0" position when taking off.
If I chose to only having flaperons, would using the "Landing mode" be my best option to just be able to flip a switch during landing and have the flaperons and elevator set to a specific setting kick in?
Thanks for your reply and comments.

Hitec Eclipse Question

3dd,
Before he answers ... here is what I believe happens. When we set the percent of flap trim (FLPT) to say 30 and the VR1 knob is set at zero which is half way, we now have 30 percent spoilers if we turn the knob to our left, which the knob shows negative and then we had 30 percent flaps if we turn the knob to our right to the positive side.
The option I see is to set the FLPT percent first and make sure the VR1 knob is turned all the way to the negative side. Then go back and set the ailerons to their centering positions. This way when the knob is turned to the right, it will give flaps only. The only down side that I see is if you ever changed the FLPT percent, we would have to reset the ailerons.
Mike..... please let me know if I'm on the right track.
Thanks

Hitec Eclipse Question

Your first analysis was correct. I typically only use the landing mode to deploy flapperons or spoilerons. Sometimes spoilerons work better if the plane wants to float. I use spoilerons on my electic sailplanes for landing.

All the other comments you made are correct.

Mike.
