Default Tcs 5mm chassis

Just bought 1 of these and bent it on my first bashing outing. Anyone else broke the unbreakable? I'll get some photos on here later

I'd rather see a video of the landing that bent a 5mm chassis! What did you do, try to jump between two tower blocks and fall short? O.o

Looking forward to pics though.

Here are 2 links for 2 videos (raw footage) the 1st is the jump that I think may have started to bend the chassis and the 2nd video is where it becomes obvious that something is not right I'll put some photos of just the 2 chassis plates up in a bit so you can how much they have bent

O.o I've seen stock chassis take harder beatings than that. You may just have been unlucky and caught it at a funny angle, 1 in 100 chance or something. TCS will probably warranty them for you but don't quote me on that.

Should be able to get it warrantied seeing they sell it with a "No questions asked replacement if you send in an unusable chassis (bent, broken, etc.) Lifetime warranty."

Because we actually bash and beat the hell out of our trucks..................... I have bent several stock chassis on both the nitro Savage and the Savage Flux HP..

This.

I managed to completely mangle my FLM 4.7mm TVPs by running into a wall, and slightly tweak my 4mm IRC chassis on a jump off the berm of a BMX track, so nothing is indestructible.

What I'm wondering about however is the grade of 6061 aluminum TCS uses for their Flux chassis. I would not expect 5mm 6061-T6 to bend from the impacts shown in your videos, so I imagine they're using the much lower quality 6061-0. That would also explain why the price is so low.

If I ever have any issues, I'm ordering up some 5-7mm thick titanium and CNC'ing my own TVPs lol.

Well this has certainly given ThunderbirdJunkie some food for thought.

Anybody want to buy a set of installed-but-never-run TCS stock length plates in blue? Time to make an order with FLM or IRC. ThunderbirdJunkie thought the material felt a bit soft.

I think I might get a set of new chassis plates down then use them as a template to make some out of steel? I've never liked aluminium any way!

Don't be silly. Only one person has provided proof of them being bent, and you wanna sell yours now? You're better than that. Also, someone posted how they bent their FLM TVPs as well. I can make some titanium TVPs if you're really interested.

Cossey, ThunderbirdJunkie has bent and broken a lot of things on a nitro Savage that people didn't think was possible. On 6s, geared to the moon with a Castle 1520 1600 ThunderbirdJunkie is probably going to be going extremely FAST when he hits stuff when his electric one is finally finished...

F it, they were only about 20 bucks. ThunderbirdJunkie will give them a shot, and see what happens[&:][&:]

True to their word TCS have said they will repace the chassis all I needed was the invoice number and to send it back to them which cost £8.50!!!!!! And 7 working days just to get there!!!!!!!!!! But that's what you get for living on a rock in the sea. I'm very happy with the customer support.

Just got an email from TCS crawlers saying that my new chassis is in the post. And out of the hundreds they have sold I'm only the second person to have bent 1!

In my exp I've found that thinner 7075 alloy to be much better. no matter how thick 6061 is, it just doesn't seem to be up to the task of real bashing. Way back when, I got the HPI super TVPs made of 7075 and I put that truck through hell. They are still on today, the center skid also helps to keep it that much more rigid.

Just got my replacement chassis through the post today they congratulated me on the amount of carnage I had done to it and said that I'm only the 2nd person ever to return a damaged chassis out of the 100s that they have sold. I'm secretly impressed with that.

Before fitting the new chassis I was thinking maybe I would use these as templates and make or get made another set out of some tougher metal alu? Steel? Stainless steel?
What do you guys think?
Have you done this before?
Is it worth the extra effort and £?

If you have a fairly large budget, try to get some TVPs machined from 3mm 7075-T6 aluminum. They would be 40% lighter, and going by yield strength alone, about 5x more difficult to bend.
