Dual Disk work then they dont!!!
Hey guys I just installed my dual disk breaks and they worked super good. Like I would slam on the brakes and it would just endo. But the I turned the car off then on again and they didn't work. The silver tube type thing that holds the break linkage in is moving freely which I think is bad. Like I cant apply the brakes even manually. All my servo's are fine and everything please help.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Blue loctite.
I did not have to use anything on mine and I have not had to touch my screws since I put them on (Nearly 2 gallons). Did you put on the spacers and any recommended washers (Per the instructions)?

Good question. I checked their website and it doesn't mention anything about material restrictions. Try it and let me know how it works. Just be sure to keep it off of everything else.

CA=Cyanoacrylate=Super glue for the most part. See if you can figure out mechanically why those screws are being pulled out. There has to be a reason. If not, superglue it...but plan on not getting the screws back out. PVC glue is less strong and may hold.

I also wasn't supposed to tighten them all the way down like as hard and I could because it would apply the brake. Right?

It is plastic. Your screws should not be backing out unless something is wrong. If you shine a flashlight in there, are your spacers set with the nub (Larger part) closest to the trans?

You know how there is that black thing that goes on the out part of the screw and it fattens out where it touches the tranny. Is there supposed to be spacer inbetween there and the trans body?

PVC glue if you want to be able to take it apart, super glue if you don't. Tighten up all of the way then back off a tiny bit.
Other than that, I'm out of ideas.

This is an easy fix. Take out the brake pad screws and with eveything in place, use a small allen wrench to stick in the hole to gauge the depth. Then get 3mm machine thread socket cap screws that are just a tad shorter than what you measured and install. There's no way they will back out. I did this on my savage when I installed the dual disk. I was having the same problem and it cured it for good. I don't know why HPI doesn't fix this by adding the screws I mentioned to the kit. It seems just about everyone that uses the dual disk has the backing out problem.

You can use CA glue to hold the screw in and yes, you will be able to remove the screw later. If you use the thin stuff (like crazy glue or thin ca) BE VERY CAREFULL, that stuff runs everywhere. You may want to use thick CA but not the Gel CA (it's too thick). I've used it in a couple of places on my savy and have been able to remove the screws.

I've had the same problem. The best, and easiest, fix is to get a pair of machine screws that are 2mm longer. No CA needed. The reason that they strip, is that the coarse thread screws grab less plastic than the mach screws, and more easily pulled out. This is especially true if you upgraded the servo. This fix should cost less than $1, and about 1/2 hour of your time. [8D]

Ok I think I might do that but is there an easier way to do that without taking off the side plate and totally removing the transmission? Also dont you have to remove the engine too?
