I've never used a dedicated "break in fuel" I always use the same fuel I run in all my MT's and nitro boats. I've never had a break in problem that was caused by the fuel.

If there is one thing that has been firmly established across ALL the boards I've been to, it is this: Blue Thunder sucks.

Break in the engine on quality 20% nitro fuel from Odonells, Trinity, etc. Stay away from high oil contents of 15-18%. Stick with fuels that are 20% nitro and 12-14% oil from DAY ONE.

Be warned: Ignore the advice you sought and get used to your one-way bearing slipping and tuning annoyances.

Of everything I've read, the above-mentioned advice is consistent in all forums, even from folks who work in the RC fuel industry.

I've had terrible experience with Blue Thunder - it makes tuning a nightmare. O'Donnell is the best that I have tried, but Trinity was also good.

Been using Blue Thunder since I started and had no problems whatsoever...my buddy has used the break in fuel for all of his engines and it has worked great as well, he swears by it. Also, I'm not sure how it works where you guys are, but why would the LHS sell you break in fuel if all they want is your money? Break in fuel is like almost 20 bucks cheaper than regular fuel (up here anyways), would make more sense for them to try to sell you 20 or 25% if they wanted the cash.

Cheers

Crazy Canuck, how long have you been running blue thunder in your K4.6? When i got a gallon of the 30% race, my one-way was slipping like mad by the time i was half way through it. I found tuning very finicky as well. I prefer Sidewinder 30% race for my savvy. Avf in London always seems to have it. Which LHS do you use in London?
