Default How do I make this spur gear work?

My lhs only has [link=http://www.hpiracing.com/products/en/77094.html]77094[/link] for the 4.6 RTR. HPI's website shows that this an optionable part for the 4.6 RTR. However, it is very different from the original [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&W=000195848&I=LXJLH5&P=K]76937[/link]. How do I make this work in my 4.6 RTR? I bought two of these and the lhs is 30 miles from here. My son and I really want to run the truck today.

Thanks,

Steven

The reason they look so different is the pics are of opposite sides of the gear. The only difference between them is the number of teeth. Also, if the 49 tooth gear didn't come with a sliiper pad, you'll need to get that separately. The other consideration is you're clutch bell. If you're running a 15 or 16 tooth clutch bell, either spur will work, but if you change clutch bells, you'll have to make sure the spur is compatible. Hope this helps!!

Well, actually the original gear is offset so that a bushing fits into the spur gear. The 77094 isn't offset so if I install it, I have a huge gap. Any ideas? Thanks for the reply.

You would take the bushing out of the other and place it in front of the 49t spur. The 47t spur would work better for ya anyways then you don't have to worries about the gap.

Great, I'll try that. I'd love the 47t but no one in Houston has it.

Just keep an eye on that bushing they wear out fast. You could also use some small washers instead .

The spur your LHS has is for the X dual slipper setup which imo sucks. You need a whole different setup on the tranny to make it work. Stick to the older type cuz its rpoven to be better.

Thanks guys. I'll use what I have and see what happens while I wait for the stock to come in.
