Why is this the mind frame of so many people. At my LHS, which i like, all of the other customers think that if it is faster, it is better. Is that the case? not always. ATM my savage is fast enough, accelerates fast enough. Why would i want to go any faster? i would much rather put on some lighter tires or a 3 speed or even newer servos

am i missing it?

I have a 45mph savage soon to be 50+ not as fast as a car but still fast. I like 14/52 sometimes just to go over anything![8D]

Because most people that deal with anything with a motor in it are always looking for a little more. It's human nature I guess

in sports competitions
the fastest is usually the winner
and winning is what most people want to do

In a way, yes... faster IS better. Think about it... do you have as much fun with a stock MiniT or a brushless? Is a .21 Savage more fun than a 4.6? Is it better to top out at 35 or 55? Granted, you'll probably never get your truck to top speed, but speed generally is a good measure of "better". With that said, one of the fastest MT's out on the market was also the worst (XTM Mammoth... original) I think if you're basing your opinion on speed alone, no... that's not a good measurement, but if you're basing it on speed, agility,handling performance, and durability... yeah, speed is an important factor. Why do you think HPI moved from the .21 to a larger engine? It was for performance.

Tell me, is it as much fun driving a Corvette Z06 as it is a Geo Metro? I can tell you from experience... NOPE! [X(]

It's human nature also. We all like to compare ourselves to other, be itwho has the better car, house, more money, etc. RC is not different. If someome brags "My savage goes 70MPH!" other will ty to top that even if the original guy is lying through his teeth.

There was an actual 65+MPH Savage, but is was a seriously chopped and modded truck that mounted dual engines and custom gears.

I agree with the human nature thing...ever since mankind was able to go fast someone else wanted to go faster just to see if he could and to tell others that he did.

Competition drives people...to incredible feats and incredible depths. []

from the first savage, yes it was pretty slow and needed to be upgraded i mean comeon, 12 lbs for a rtr 21, no tmuch of a match there.

i mean now, with .28 'sport' (better then ok but not a race engine), engines and above being considered the standard size, the trucks have gotten to a point where going fast becomes almost pointless. Ok so you can setup your truck from the road, but thats it. Try going 3/4 throttle on uneven ground and your truck is a gonner. Why isn't more importance placed on finding improvements from suspension?

I have doing this all wrong! I should take one of my AE 15 engines that are just drawing dust, find a 13 clutch bell and a 66 tooth spur off of an E-Savage and go have fun! Just think how long that 15 would run on a Savage fuel tank! I might be able to drive around the parking lot for 30-40 minutes before running out of fuel. Anybody interested in a bunch of big block engines?

Sex might be, but get of the speed guys, hahaha, of coarse faster is better, no question about it, faster is better, l'll trade you a crappy 1.1 engine for your savy engine since you dont want speed ! Then you can tell me, still recon speed doesnt matter , or faster isnt better ?
