savage 25 or X
hi
there is 2 used savage interesting me around my city..
im looking for a solid basher but nothing special
-first is a savage 25 with a unknown engine but working, 2 servos,2 set of tires but without radio and recever - 200$CND
-second is a savage x 4,6, comes with rotostart and battery, charger for battery, temp gun- rtr - 350$CND
i guess the best deal is the second but do you think the first one is worth buying ?
and what are the difference between the 25 and x ?
thanks

RE: savage 25 or X
I have the 25, so I can't talk about the X. But if the X has the top-split tranny case and you ever put in a 3-speed....that's a big bonus. A roto-start is a huge bonus...especially in our Canadian "other-than-summer" climate. No radio in the 25? A temp gun with the X? Yes, we all never go by temps when we tune, but we all own temp guns none-the-less....LOL. Tires.....you won't wear out tires fast unless you do asphalt (thought they will stretch and balloon more as they get older).
I'd say the X for $350 is by far the best deal.

RE: savage 25 or X
I have an .21 SS with an HPI .25 motor and an 4.9X.
I prefer the X over the .21 SS
The X is faster, wheelies at will, and has better tranny and diff's
One good thing about the 21SS is the arms. They seem alot stronger than the X's arms. I have heard that some people put 21/25 arms on their X's
And others putting X diffs and trannys in 21/25's
So each have their pro's and con's

I was told the x is easyer to work on, like getting to the diffs. The 25 you have to remove alot of parts including the side frames. Thats what I heard..........

There are some important details being overlooked. If you are comparing stock trucks, yes, the X is better just for the convenience items HPI put on it like the ez access diff cases and trans case. Engines and diffs are a moot point because I don't know of too many old S25s running around with the stock engine and stock diffs. With that said, a updated S25 is just as capable as a similar X. I (and others feel)the S25 is better because it has stronger suspenion parts than the X. If you want the more modern look of a X if you have a S25 model, just get X TVPs. Just my opinion.[8D]
