RE: fastest savage around?
well the fastest one would be flux or one modded with different brushless motor next would be twin engine savage.
taken of wikipedia
HPI Savage is a line of 1/8th scale radio controlled monster trucks manufactured in Taiwan by Hobby Products International of Foothill Ranch, California USA.
The overall setup of the Savage, with its massive tires and tall suspension, make it a poor choice for racing in stock form, but does enable the model to be able to withstand tremendous abuse. Racing Savages are not common, but HPI and other companies offer parts to make a Savage competent against other monster trucks.
Several hobbyists have had success using the Savage for high speed. The current RC monster truck world speed record is held by a Savage, at 61.9 MPH.

RE: fastest savage around?
I really don't know my Savage's exact top speed, but I know its in the lower 50's...I know because I raced my Friend's Lexus LS 460 and my Savage was "smoking" it untill we hit around the 60mph mark.
My truck:
19p/47s
modded stock motor
suspension conversion kit
and when I did that race, I had Traxxas Talon tires off a revo

Ok, lets look at this situation logically. A Savage with a single engine setup is about 11lbs. Adding an extra engine and fuel tank= an extra 2.5lbs MAX. Usually twin engine setups are useless because we don't have the gears to get the engines to wind out. With proper gearing a twin can be a good setup and have beyond fast top end.

This is the reply I got when I aksed SavageJim how much his twin engine Savage weighed:

I never weight it, but it feels like it definitelyy busts 15lbf. Well, I shouldn't lie, I tried o weigh it on a standing bathroom scale, but that was highly inaccurate, one time it said 17lbf, anotehr time it said 25lbf! I amgoing with the 17lbf figure, it does not feel like 25lbf at all.

RE: fastest savage around?
i don't think that a twin would give you better speed at all, the #'s aren't there.... yeah your single engine (lets say top end race ) crankes out what 42k, at WOT, a dual engine setup isn't gunna spin too much faster, maybe a little bit because there is less load on the crank but thats still what 44k tops going from the CB, i don't really see much of a gain there, a motor can only spin so fast, two of the same motor will spin at the same speed, they're not gunna like add to eachothers speed so you get 84k you'll just get more TQ, and as a result, more HP to the ground.... so yes, you could gear it higher with a 2 motors but to an extent, just due to the TQ curve and such maybe with the right tranny, and an 1/8 onroad motor maybe.... but i can't see much more than a 5-7 MPH gain

RE: fastest savage around?
This was a stock Picco 28 and a two speed running 18/46 gears on Terra Pins. [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExDPpRdj_Vg]The passes are[/link] well over an 1/8th mile, closer to a quarter mile. This truck has blown several three speeds. When I tried to run the 18/46 with Terra Pins and a three speed, I keep breaking final drive gears.
I tried shimming the gear stack to make it tighter and I also tried the lower stack, I am not sure what is causing this damage.
[link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZ_QuBQ68TE]This is the truck[/link] the officer clocked on lidar at 64, to be honest, it does not look that fast to me. He refused to stick around for another run, so I could not back it up.
[link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlVh5ZXmKXQ]This truck was very fast![/link] That engine came to me from a friend who was having some troubles with it. It had a horrible leak in the nose of the block. The engine was still fairly new and it was incredibly strong, I actually fixed this one by putting a new block and bearings on and found a torn pinch bolt o-ring. Just the kind of stuff the average guy does not look for in air leaks.
[link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFiLRa5IxzY&feature=related]This is a Savage X[/link] with a three speed and I have not finished breaking the engine in. It promises to be very fast, has crazy power, turns lots of rpm. I already found out that this engines pushes the X chassis beyond design stability. It will go fast enough that you cannot do anything but let it run on a straight line. I may move it to an XL chassis, but the speed and power is kind of fun. I should go get a new video of it one of these days. Glen

Glen, you need an on-board video camera for some of these passes

i would like to see if some savage enthusiast would make a cvt transmission for one of these cars. if so there would be 60 mph savages all over the place.

LOL! I would hope to see electronic fuel injection come out the same time a CVT transmission came out!

Precisely, it'd be like going from carburetors to fuel injection...wait, real cars did that
I mean heck, Toretto did that in his muscle car! [8D]
