Default F4.6 on Paddles....Dial-up Warning: Lots of PICS + VIDEO!!

Took the Savage home to Florida while visiting family for the week. Scored a set of mounted paddles from the 'bay for a steal and ran them at a reclaimed phosphate pit in the sugar sand. I've also got quite a few video clips that I'll put together and link up when I get it done. Pretty serious roost, didn't take long to figure out that leaving a little distance between yourself and the truck is a good idea....

Video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3G49BIsXnUw

Testing them out at the house.

Pretty hot out, but still ran like a champ.

Introduced a good buddy to the fun of 4wd Nitro RC

Hillclimbs

Managed to stick it a few times without enough momentum in the soft stuff, but the climbing ability w/ paddles vs the factory tires is pretty impressive.

Those paddles sure put a load on that F4.6. Did you try adding a little fuel on the hsn? Great stuff! Thanks for posting it! Glen

They sure do! I tried going richer, but it just got softer and it needs all the power it can get . It started getting pretty warm towards the end of the runs...ambient temp was at least 90F, but I'm sure the Byrons kept everything safe.

Speaking from my experience & limited knowledge of ATVs and other ORVs w/ paddle tires....the # of paddles on a tire is dependent on the horsepower of the vehicle. Considering there's 11 paddles on each tire, that's a lot of bite from all 4 tires to pull the RPM down compared to a tire with less traction. Next time I'm home I'll try running a 49 tooth spur and possibly try a 16 tooth clutch. On the other hand, maybe I'll have a Picco in there before the next time I get home and I won't have to worry about the load on the F4.6.

Glad you liked the video.

I know when I ran those Proline paddles on my Picco 27 in an XL in soft sand, I was running a two speed and 17/47 gears, it was all my little Picco wanted. I really wish I had swapped over to the 16/52 ratio to let it breath. I have a set of Losi 420 paddles, but I have only run them in snow.

Terra Pins are not much of a load in snow...

I thought I had a video of the XL running paddles in the snow, but I guess not. [sm=red_smile.gif]
