Could you give me an advice for a trouble on my Savage 25, please?
Hi, HPI Drivers!
I have run my Savage 25 for 5 years. It has been running beautifully without any big troubles. I have run my Savage 25 quite gently to compare with other drivers.
But now suddenly, I have got a trouble. At the stop, if I pull the trigger to the full throttle, my Savage does not go straight. It goes badly to the right, doing dounts all by herself, even though I don't touch the steering wheel (but at slow speed it goes a kind of straight - not perfect straight though.)!
I adjusted the front wheels for better alignment, but this trouble does not go away. Still same thing is happening. This is so frustrating.
Do you know waht causes this? What is the solution for this trouble?
I don't have an expert around me, so that no one can help me. Your advice will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you very much for your attention!
James

Could be several things. Here are a few to check.
1. Are both front dogbones in and not bent?
2. Check for free movement of front wheel bearings.
3. Pull the front diff and take it apart. Could be a broken shaft or gear inside the diff.

Hi, guys!
Thank you very much for your advices!
I just have replaced the bevel gears of the front differential. And then, I did a test run, but still it goes to the right badly. Still the same thing is happening!
Should I replace the bevel gears of the rear differential, too (It is really pain on the butt!)?
Well, the steering servo seems to be OK. Is there any way to check whether the steering servo causes this trouble or not?
Once again, thank you very much!
I will look foward hearing from you!

I don't think the bevel gears will cause it to pull.
The steering should be pretty obvious if there is a problem.
Just turn the radio on and roll it manually without the engine running.
First thing I would do is turn the wheels (spin) by hand and see if any take more effort.
Then I would get it running and hold it in the air and rev so the wheels spin, if one wheel stays put I would suspect that part of the driveline.
My guess is something is rubbing/dragging and causing the pull.
Basically a process of elimination.

You are not getting any power to the right rear wheel.
If all of the power is going to the left rear wheel
it will pull right. Check to see if dog bone is missing
or pins on the ends of dog bone are not sheered off.
Also check hex inside right rear wheel to see if it is stripped.
But none of the above would workout that way unless
you were running a locker or If you still had the old two spider gear diff
in the rear and one of the spider gears has broken
and now has diff jammed and its working like a locker or positive diff.
Or you put really heavy diff oil in that rear diff some time ago.
This style of differential is an open diff and power ends up
going to the wheel with the lest resistence so just a missing dog bone
may not make it pull to the right unless one of the other variables above is involved

Thank you very much for your responses, guys!
It seems that the steering servo and the dogbones are OK. As Fxrs said, I am suspecting the rear diff gears. Sometime this week, I will open it and replace with 4 bevel gear set. And then, I will let you know!
Thank you very much again for your advices!

I might try a new servo. The servo might be going bad and the gears inside could be wearing out.

Hi, guys!
I opened up the rear differential and found out that the right hand side bevel gear was busted. Now I have replaced them with the new four bevel gears, and it runs OK!
Thank you very much for your advices!
