Default savage 25 conversion

hi all i have just bought a used savage, i think its a 25 it has silver tvps and there is not a lot of space behind the engine and the shox and it has a 3.5 engine in it, but dont think it runs it doesnt look to clever inside. i am thinkin of putting an lrp30 or a 5.9 in it just cause i have them lying around what gearing do you's recomend if this is a possible conversion i am gonna run it with xl wheels/tyres. what else am i gonna need to watch out for thanks, mark

The 3.5 is a .21. I wouldnt put such a strong engine as the LRP .30 or 5.9 in a savage 21 without doing some upgrading in the drivetrain dept. Diffs primarily, get some off an XL or flux. HD drive cups all around but keep the black dogbones, they will twist but wont break as easily as the HD DBs. The rest should be pretty much straight forwards, gearing of your choice, tires of your choice and so on.

it sounds like you have this savage
http://www.hpieurope.com/kit-info.ph...No=882&lang=en the savage 3.5 a europe re release of the S25

meaning you'll need the aluminum diff cups to handle the extra power but other than that you should be good, id go lrp 30 and the say a 054 pipe

you need the longer plates and exented everything but yes, tho for the life of me i can't figure out why you'd want that i can see some really bad things going down with that uber steched chassie on a bad landing, i can just imaginge it twisting its self apart, but thats must my opinion

Hmmm i never thought about that, i have seen a video of this thing playing in the sand it looks awesome and its big lol i was just thinkin of doin something cool, the other idea i had was just to leave it the way it was and get a land rover body and get it painted up real nice like i seen 1 that has like tiger stripes on it and was thinkin about something similar with a big rippin engine in it but was worried it would be uncontrollable

I was lookin at picco 21 engines in Wheelspin models and they are less than £100 british cause i am worried about continually killing the drive train with an Lrp 30 or the k5.9, i know the 28 gets a good right up but i have never heard anyone talking about this engine the advert says they are real easy to tune and good to hold it, anybody had any dealings with this motor cause i dont wanna buy a lemon

Even a .21 picco is a powerhouse. Simple rule; If its a picco, upgrade your truck accordingly. I dont know how it would do in a big ol savage though.

If you want to upgrade but keep your cost down, the cheapest way I can think of Is what lug said. Get the 4 spyder gears and aluminum cups. You can get a really good engine that will give you all the power you will need and keep it easy on the truck and your wallet but you wont find anything worth paying for that will be easy on your diffs. A mach 427 off an LST is a popular choice for the backyard bashers.

The rest of the stuff you can replace/upgrade as it breaks or wears down.

i was just looking over this conversion i am doing and it brutally hit me, there is no way an lrp30 is gonna fit in here, what with the thicker casing and bigger recoil starter on it! the k5.9 will still fit in kinda the top of the engine is almost level with the carry handle which is higher than the body mounts on their highest setting. i reckon 2 of the long reach ones should work
