stock cotter pins for body mounts - a better way?
Or maybe bend the cotter pin end 90° to easily pull them out with your fingers vs. using needle nose pliers?

Get a set of the touring car pins (like the ones holding the fuel tank down). They hold the body on just fine, and easy to remove also.

Put a plastic zip tie through the round eye part of the pin. Cut a 1" piece of fuel line and slide it over the zip tie. Put another zip tie on there to hold the fuel line in place. It works good and creates a little handle to pull the clips off with. One of the pictures in my gallery has this.

I just use a ziptie on each of mine. I leave about a 1.5 inch "tail" on it. Also, use something bright for when you drop them in the grass or dirt.

I tried those Du-bro kits, they were "Ok", problem is I am a sucky driver, and roll my truck constantly! :D The dubro pin mount will quickly rip right out of the body upon a hard cartwheel/flip/barrel roll.

OK Heres my design. I left the front zippies uncut and attached them to the brush bar and then put a little design on them

I just wrapped good ole electral tape real tight around it. seems to hold well.

I like how you guys have used the zipties in such creative ways. I REALLY like the wire inside of the fuel line trick, I might have to copy that.
On an unrelated note, how do you guys keep your trucks in such good condition? I'm starting to think that I'm abusing mine excessively, but I'm not even really that hard on it compared to alot of people that I see. I bought mine the week before Christmas and it already looks like trash compared to most that I see on the site here. My body is scratched and dented up, bumpers and lower arms are scarred all up, I've had to straighten the rollbar like 6 times already, you can't even read the little "HPI" logo on the cooling head.....maybe I just need to learn how to drive[:o] I miss my clean and pretty Savage. |
