Disadvantages of mounting receiver and battery box on side....

I would highly recommend against mounting a receiver outside the battery box expecially on teh side. It will leave it open to damage and possible runoff.

I agree with twomanytoys.

Now that makes sense. How will that switch hold up with all the dirt the tire slings around though? Thats the only thing I would be worried about.

Its been sweet but you can always mount the switch inside one of those rubber switch boot thingies.

I moved my battery out to the front towers also, using the sicj battery relo mod. Haven't run it yet, but it really made it A LOT easier to access the receiver in the battery box.

+1

If enything, mount it along the centerline as much as possible, even above the mid-mounted tank (I asume you are doing a mid-tank mod). Even though your electronics might be exposed to rollover damage, at least roll overs are not as common as side-swiping stuff that normally happens on a basher.

It is possible to mount your RX and batt up against the front shock tower to help minimize their exposure to even rollovers.

I don't see the reason why you would put the receiver on the side and the battery on the shock towers?
And sorry, not trying to say what your doing is wrong, But why do you want a bigger battery.
There's hump packs that deliver more than enough power and fit in the HPI radio box easily.
Unless your doing the mid tank mod?
Other than that, the HPI Radio box is really nice a neat.
