I LOVE the Picco .28 for my trucks as they are nasty fast with lots of torque too. Right now I am in the process of making a dual turbo plug head for my .28's since the dual plug heads are working GREAT for my 3.3 engines and Novarossi drag engines so stand by and I will let you know how well the buttons work.

i have never seen or heard of a dual plug head. wow. does it give you more torque or top end?

Anything but the .50 (8.0)
It's a gas guzzling fuel leaking brick of a converted helicopter engine.
Unless you plan on totally modding it and don't care about spending all your money on fuel.

thanx, i think im gona go with the .28 coz alot of people have recommended it to me, but how well does it preform

RE: nitro engines

how do you start the .28 if you have two plugs, do u use 2 glow plugs or something????

SAVAGEBANE 08-18-2009 04:38 PM

RE: nitro engines

most if not all nitro engines start with either a pullstart or a rotostart system(hpi) along with a glow igniter attached to the glow plug.
that 3.3 was the first time ever i have seen 2 glow plugs on a engine. Good choice going with the .28 lots of experienced people here have recommended the LRP .28 or the LRP ZR.30. I have also heard good things about the Mach motors.

Thats insane! You need to start a new thread with this so we can follow it more closely.

.28 99% of the time unless you want to go for the LRP .30.

I agree, it seems like a no-brainer for a guy with little nitro experience and running an XL. The Picco 28 will be faster, but much more tempermental. Glen

They are an awesome engine, not as strong as the 28 right off idle. You will probably experience your wheelies coming up as it rolls into its power band instead of off idle. In a Savage they give excellent ground speed and are pretty easy on fuel. Their porting is primitive compared to the newer designed 28s. They do have good timing though and are much easier to keep tuned. Glen

Yes it is strong on the middle to upper end, and pulls wheels from a roll easily on my xl but not from idle well. Do you have a parts break down of the motor so i could maybe get some spare parts , the one way has seemed to been rubbing on the rod and i want to replace the rod and be sure there isnt susposed to be a washer to space it out.

Everything you will need to replace can be located at nitrohouse. The Picco .27 has been discontinued and it seems that Nitrohouse is the only place that still carries all the parts you will need in order to keep these bad boys running great.

I also went on a Picco .27 buying binge a few months back. I absolutely love the motor in my X but have never tried to run one in an XL I would like to see some video of that combo please.

Why run 2 glow plugs? These dont run off spark, and its a glow plug not a spark plug..

RE: nitro engines

Has anyone ever tried an ofna 807? i cant find any information on it but i mated it to my picco .27 and it helped the lean issue tremendously. Although i have a 086 and a 053 pipe coming for some testing.
