I read the other post on how to download the planes for AFPD,but could somebody break it down real simple like??THanks.

It will differ slightly because people have zipped up the files differently. Check the readme that is included with each file.

[b]Usually[\b] you will just unzip the downloaded file into your aircraft directory and that is all that is required. Some will not unzip into it's own directory. If that is the case, make a new directory named for the aircraft, and move the files into it.

Each aircraft must be in it's own directory, I believe the directory is the name displayed for the model in the sim.
Sometimes there is a *.wav file that will have to be moved to the AFP(D) sounds directory.
For deluxe the older models made for AFP will not have an image of the plane, or a comment file. You will have to make them yourself. They are named !QUOT!preview-{name of model}!QUOT! 1 text file, and 1 preview image.
A few models use channels for dropping bombs, folding wings, moving canopy. You will have to assign something to control that channel if you don't already have it.

Attempt at a sample of the directory structure:

AFP(D)

The OMPBipe is a good example since it is one I know is packaged right and includes the new files used by deluxe. Unzip the file in your aircraft directory and make sure it created a directory called OMPBipe and your done. Use that one as a reference for what files should be where.

xtra, which version of windows are you running...98, 98SE, 2000, millenium, XP home/pro or do you have another Operating system i didn't mention?

There are different ways of installing new planes into Deluxe and it really depends on how familiar you are with your computer. For instance do you have a Winzip program or know what one is and does and how to configure it so it will do most of the work for you? Everyone has a way of going about using there Computer since there are so many options to choose from. I like to Download everything onto my desktop and then install from there where as others may have the program they are using do it for them. One reason I like to download everything onto my desktop is because some files do not always goto the correct folder depending on who made up the file for downloading, there are other reasons but they are not important.


Basically you have to find the Aeroflypro Deluxe folder that is most likely in your C drive...For me i have to go into Program Files then goto Ipacs then the Aeroflypro Deluxe folder, then i can put the planes into the Aircraft folder. Since I'm only familiar with the operating system I use it's hard for me to help you since you didn't mention what you are using.

If you can find the Aeroflypro Deluxe folder then maybe we can start from there.

I have XP home and did everything you described above. When I went to open the file to fly the plane, it didn't show up. I went back to program files/ipacs/aeroflyprodeluxe/aircraft to see if the folder was sitll there and it was. Any suggestions?

We also have XP Home and we loaded aircraft by downloading the aircraft zip folder off the website and into "My Documents." We then went into "My Computer: C//Drive: Program Files: IPACS: Aerofly Professional ...: Aircraft" When you open the aircraft folder you will see folders for each of the airplanes already installed in the game.

Go to the file drop down menu at the top of the screen, click new and click "new folder." When the new folder comes up, name it the exact name of the aircraft you want to download (ex: cap231; funtana, etc).

Close out of My Computer by clicking on "My Documents" on the left side of the screen box- open the zip file for the airplane you want, open the aircraft folder inside, until you see a bunch of icons for the craft- wing, a tmd file, etc. Hold down the Ctrl key, as you click on all of the files (we didn't do the read me file) with the mouse (this will select multiple files at once); right click and select "copy."

Return to My Computer: C//drive: Program Files: IPACS: Aerofly Professional ...: Aircraft: the aircraft folder you previously created. Once you have opened this aircraft folder, go up to the menu taskbar at the top and under edit, select "paste." You should see all of the files you just copied from the zip file download into this file.

Close out of the aircraft folder and launch the game- go under aircraft and you should find you new airplane:)

I have XP, too, followed your instructions and the GS Xtra 540p did not show up in the AFPD airplane list. What did I miss?

The extracted files are all in the airplane's folder which is in the airplane folder of the AFPD folder in IPACS program folder.

Is the name exactly the same on the airplanes folder as the download? Are there spaces in the downloaded file?

It seems the folder name has to be EXACTLY the same as the airplane file name or it doesn't show in the list of aircraft on AFPD.

I had issues too until my son showed me .. He set up a temporary folder in "My document" and we call it My planes (kiss).now go to the sim site get that cool plane into my planes document..

go to local disk drive C click on

scroll down to "program files" click it on

scroll down to Ipacs click it on

it will have a subfolder show up called aerofly professional click it on

this where you are going to unzip the file to.. drag the big window in front of you down a little you should see a window with the exact name of the plane..

click on the yellow folder and it opens a box to enter the exact name of the plane you want..

TYPE IT EXACTLY AS SHOWN!@!!

the win zip will ask you several prompts and then you have to select where you want the file to transfer to..it will unzip and should say finish.if all went well then it should be in the aircraft folder of ipacs and just click your program on and look ..hopefully its there/..if I didnt make it entirely clear I apologize but its the only way I know as these are compressed files and you have to get them unzipped or de compressed..if you dont have win zip software you can download a trial version FREE..there are tutorials to help you thru ..
