C-17 modifications
1 Attachment(s)
Let me start by saying I LOVE the C-17 model! That's probably because I ran the Air Force's C-17 Flight Test Program at Edwards AFB for three years plus two years at the program office. Have lots of fond memories flying test programs in the Globemaster III.
Anyway I want to present a challenge to all those expert model designers out there (Rodeo, Geoff, guys....you listening?). Can the C-17 model be modified to include opening ramp and door in the back end and then maybe airdrop something out the back? Man whould that be cool or what! |
RE: C-17 modifications
I know this may sound like a laim question but where do you get the c-17? I just got AFPD and i dont have it and ive been to a few download sites all i can find actually and i dont seem to have found it. Thank you for your time

RE: C-17 modifications
it's at rcsim.de under AFP downloads. it works for afpd no problem.
|
RE: C-17 modifications
thank you I guess i skipped right to the deluxe downloads on that site. seeing the video on the web page of this plane had a lot to do with my choice to buy this simulator. thank you again.

RE: C-17 modifications
Just about every AFP download works with AFPD ( beware of Alkaline, he'll tell you different).
Even the ones that don't can be converted with simple change. |
RE: C-17 modifications
I have put a few in there some work better than others. At this time the count is 108 aircraft at some point this thing may say uncle lol

RE: C-17 modifications
Ok, back to the challenge at hand: Who can make this C-17 into a fully mission capable airdrop monster?[8D]

RE: C-17 modifications
Mike,
yes, it 'can' be done. But you definitely need the original 3D model of the C17, since we have to create the objects like door and ramp in it. Also it could drop something as we can do with the tanks/bombs. But it means a lot of difficult work. I will ask the author whether he does it or whether he gives us the 3D MQO. Thanks Rodeo! I knew you'd be one of the experts who could figure it out. If done it could very well be one of the most sophisticated models in AFP. I know the detail on the C-17 is absolutely amazing. Here's another shot for inspiration!

RE: C-17 modifications
Unfortunately I don't get an answer from the author.
I will try it once more. But without the 3D MQO file there's no way except creating the C-17 again from scratch. Regards Rodeo www.rodeo.onlinehome.de |
RE: C-17 modifications

Sorry,
got no answer at all. [:o] |
RE: C-17 modifications
I've downloaded and loaded several planes into AFPD with no problem but for some reason this C-17 isn't showing up. What's to do?
Thanks Joel |
RE: C-17 modifications
Went to reccomended site and downloaded C-17 but it will not show up in AFPD menue even thought the file under Aircraft is there. Any suggestion?

RE: C-17 modifications
Are you sure the contents of the folder is correct in the aircraft folder? Open the folder up and check for a readme and of course if the files are in there and not in another folder...I know it happens sometimes.

RE: C-17 modifications
I'm breaking laws by posting here but.... Add an underscore "_" between "GM" and "C-17" For some reason on my computer it's not visible in the downloaded file names until I get in the "rename" mode. Anyway, worked for me.
