Multiplayer Setup

I have AFPD with add-ons#1 and 2 installed on Windows XP. I just hooked up the slave USB cable with adapter for my Futaba T6EX. I can not get the 2nd transmitter/plane to work. I can see the 2nd Tx in the Input Device and Control settings. However, when I try to calibrate, there is no response, the "Calibrate" field is not even highlighted. When I turn the Tx on, I can actually calibrate it!

When I try to fly, I get the split screen. My main GC now controls both planes, again no response from the 2nd Tx:-(

I went to Start-Control Panel-Other Hardware-Game Controller. The "Ikarus GC" and "Ikarus Interface" show up, both with status OK.

Any ideas how to get the 2nd Tx/plane to work? I also tried with my MPX Royal Evo9 with the other adapter cable - same negative result:-(

Hi Joe, please make sure you have installed patch 1.9.7.11 for the USB Slave Cable/GameCommander to work. Here is the set up procedure:

Make sure you have the patch version 1.9.7.11 installed from our download. When starting AFPD check for this version in the upper left corner of the main menu screen (the screen with the rotating model in the middle).

1. Start AFPD with only the original USB Interface Cable or USB Game Commander connected. If the USB Interface Cable is
connected without a transmitter you will get a message saying that no Tx was detected - Click OK
2. Connect the USB Slave Game Commander to a free USB port, wait a few seconds and then click on “Calibrate”.
3. In the “Input Device” window click on “Refresh”. You will then see :USB Dummy Intf #0" or “USB Dummy GC #0” - highlight this and click on “Properties”.
4. Calibrate as you would with any controller (see manual).
5. Click on “Controls”. At the bottom of the window click on “New”.
6. On the left lower section of the window click on the circle displayed at the “USB Interface/Game Commander #2”.
7. Proceed with the “Channel Assignment” - Click OK when finished.
8. At the “Aircraft Control Settings” window you will see “New USB Interface/GC #2” - Assign to Aircraft 1 or 2 and click OK
9. You are now ready to fly.

thanks, it's working now. The reason it did not work before was because I did not do step 5 (click on 'new').

One more questions please. The second Tx is only working when I power it on. Is that normal? When the power is off, I can not even calibrate the Tx, the calibrate button is inactive then. Thanks!

Yes, the radio has to be on. Some adapter designs automatically switches the radio on and disables the RF circuit when plugged in. If your adapter does not do that, then switch the radio on manually, but remove the module or xtal so that it does not transmit (this will not only drain your battery but also overheat and damage the RF circuit in the long run). Enjoy!

My Futaba T6EX is on 2.4GHz. It does not have a module or crystal...

The 2.4GHz models will normally automatically disable transmission when plugged in

Mike,
I'm having the same problem using a DX7. I followed your steps but at the calibration screen it tells me "Warning, no transmitter signal detected" and all sticks are dead. In windows Control Panel under Game controllers it sees it and says it's OK but there is not input and under calibration there is no response.

Any ideas?

Brian

RE: Multiplayer Setup

Mine works now. Pay attention to step 5 as described above. That was the reason I got my Tx to work...
