Hey guys what kind of servos could i go with that are cheaper price than the 8411's it is hard enough to afford the DA-50 but i would like to get the best servos for under 70 or so dollars apiece. Give me some suggestions I know servos is not the thing to cut cost with but is digital neccesary will just coreless work or what.....I have a JR radio but could "i believe hitec will work with it"use hitec or jr servos... thanks. guys...........I forgot the plane is a 85" wingspan Columbo Anderson Extra....

The Hitec 5945 Digital Corless can be had for $79.50 and the Hitec Digital 5645 for $52.50 a piece from Tower if you tell them you want them to match Chief's price in Model Aviation Nov 03 page 74. If you want your plane to fly good, you need servos with good centering......I use mostly Futaba servos, but these Hitec's are good! Spend $199 with Tower and use coupon#04356 and take off another $20 bucks. Both these servos have 150 something oz of torque, and both have been used on planes up to 40%, should work fine for you too.

I have been considering the same question. Hitec at about $90.00 or JR for $115.00.
If you search around the JR8411 has been available at $95.00 which places it closer to the Hitec price (haven't found the Hitec much lower any place). I have decided to "bite the bullet" and use all JR8411's even in smaller planes (Taylorcraft etc) and move them to the larger planes as needed or have them for back up. I'm setting up a 35% CAP (8 each JR8411's) and have a 40% Carden CAP232 to build over the winter that will take even more. Add to this the cost of Matchboxes and it escalated the cost. With Hitec you need the programmer (I'm still unsure of this item as some swear by it and some swear at it).

The only exception to the JR8411 will be a 2 servo pull/pull cable set up using 2 Multiplex giant scale servos (600+ tork each) for the rudder on the 40%.

Just a little note, I am a Futaba guy, but I have set up planes for my buddies with Hitec Digital's, and they are the ONLY servos I have ever set up that came out of the box with all the arms lined up! I have yet to need a programer. My point is, if cost is a concern, by all means, the Hitecs cannot be beat......if you want bragging rights, use the highend Futaba or Jr servos, performance is about the same.

The Hitec 5945MG Coreless Digitals are very very nice servos. They IMO are better servos then the JR 8411S because they have stronger gears or don't get worn out as fast, however you want to put it.

They are programmed by a single programmer that will do any Hitec Digital and does all the matchbox does and more. They don't cost $70 or whatever they run now a piece and add weight to your plane and further complicated set-up.
