Edge 540T

Scheduled to land May 2005
The SIG 33% Edge 540T ARF represents the pinnacle of true performance and quality in
a dedicated, all-out giant scale aerobatic aircraft. Strong words? You bet, but the
proof is in the flying.

Powered with 5.8 up to 6.8 cu in gas engines, such as the super powerful F.P.E. 6.8 cu in twin-cylinder engine, the SIG Edge 540T ARF will blow you away with its radical, yet silky smooth flight envelope. CAD designed and refined, the development of this superb model aircraft has taken place over a long period of time to ensure that it combines the strength, performance and quality demands that are placed on giant scale aerobatic aircraft.

The aircraft ply and balsa airframe is completely laser-cut and hand assembled by a small, highly trained group of specialists - no cookie cutter assembly here. Each of the hand assembled components is expertly covered with SIG AeroKote(tm). The spectacular color scheme is not just beautiful; it is functional in providing highly visible top and bottom reference in flight.
Specifications
Wing Span: 100 in. (254 cm)
Wing Area: 1991 sq. in. (121.4 sq. dm)
Length: 98-1/4 in. (249.6 cm)
Typical Flying
Weight: 26-27 lbs (11.8-12.2 kg)
Engine Required: 5.8 - 6.8 cu in (95 - 110 cu cm) Gas
Radio Required: 4 Channel,
8 high performance servos

To ease transport the Edge 540T ARF has a 2-piece removable wing and 2-piece removable stabilizer. SIG fully understands that giant scale aerobatic pilots prefer their own personal choice of wheels, spinners, fuel tanks and certain highly specialized hardware items, so these are not included in the kit - why pay for what you don't want or need. The fully illustrated and highly detailed assembly manual provides well thought out and practical factory recommendations for most of these specialized items. Included are the canopy, fiberglass cowl, fiberglass wheel pants and aluminum landing gear. When the time comes to step up to the next level in performance and quality, step up to the SIG 33% Edge 540T ARF - it's all about performance!

Factory price looks a little high; hopefully street pricing will be less. Nice looking plane.

If they ask around 800.00 at the dealer, it could be good! Sig ARFs are good quality from what I have seen. Any other opinions on that! And this is a 35%!

J Williams,

the comments that I made about this Edge came from their web-sight, thought people might like to read about it.

Any way living up here in Canada it is much simpler to get my hands on a 35% er that is manufactured by a big distributer like Hangar 9, or Sig for that matter. Shipping large planes across the border can be expensive, and damage often seems to take place. It is much simpler when I go down to my local hobby store and order one up.

I would love to get my hands on a CA Yak, how to get it here!!!!!!!

Anybody flying this plane? Don't seem bad at 760 bucks. Here's link to the plane.

I haven't seen this plane around anywhere.
Maybe it is more for 3D instead of SA.
