Well, I think out of the 3 of us, Andrew is the heaviest sleeper. Here are 2 pics of Andrew, 1st is him sleeping through his phone alarm for the 5th time this morning, and the other finally after Kevin and I harassed him during his alarm...lol.
We're getting ready to head to DA to assemble some more planes and then off to the field.

RE: 2005 Tucson Shootout stories and write-up
Oct 1, 11:40pm
Andrew, Kevin and I got to DA about 11am and started to assemble our planes when John Wondra came in and said his Hitec servo on rudder locked up and needed some help. So we swapped out all his Hitecs (not just the rudder) and put an assortment of Futaba and JR servos in it. Don Szczur arrived just after we did and Kevin helped him unpack and assemble his Extra. They finished just after 1pm and got lunch and went flying. Once John's Extra was re-rigged, we loaded up the planes and headed out to the field. Dave Stoik had arrived in town and was there practicing. When we got there, I was informed that something happened to Don's Extra and it is no more. I about fell over on my plane having just seen it a few hours ago at the shop. I told Don that he is more than welcome to use my SX...and tonight, after pizza, he decided he would.
My friend/caller, Ryan McLaughlin, and his family showed up about 8:30pm this evening so my house is almost complete, or is it completely full? And you would think after driving from FL for 2 1/2 days that he would be sick of driving... well Ryan and Andrew are playing PS2... Need for Speed. I guess the drive out here in a mid-sized rental car doesn't hold a candle to "driving" a McLaren F1 .
I'm off to bed for a long day of practice tomorrow (not going to work on planes other than a RX swap for Don).

Jason,
I can't imagine Andrew being tired, it's not like we see him yawning at every contest, or anything.
Do me a favor and let him know we're rooting for him up here in MI, nothing personal, but I've got to go with the local guy.
TIA,
Ken Thompson

Ken and Curtis,
I guess Jason forgot to put on here that that day began in Detroit waking up at 4:30am east coast time and ended at about 12:30 am pacific time. So lets see that is 23 hrs if I can add correctly. But everyday after that first day I have been up before Jason. Othere than that Jason is a great host. He invited me to stay at his house and he has pretty much taken me where ever as I have no car right now. He is truly a great person.
Tony,
Jason is flying the 260 great but that isnt hard for him to do. He is running stock mufflers right now. Well we are off to DA to put a balsa floor in my extra and some thrust in the 260.

Practice is finished and the contest starts in an hour and a half. The first Invitational Unknowns are much like Saturday's Known, so it shouldn't be too difficult. Everyone's stuff is working but there was a small issue that lead to the moving up of Matthew Szueber into Unlimited. I hope to have some pictures to post tonight. Time to go to the pilots meeting.

Jason,
Thanks for all the updates. It sucks to be stuck at work wishing I was there flying. Anyway, anything you can post would be GREAT. it is nice to have an "imbedded reporter!"

RE: 2005 Tucson Shootout stories and write-up
Oct. 5, 7:20pm...
Well, my original post went by the unsaved way when my puter shut down, so here goes again.
It's hot and sunny out here. There was very little wind, but it's been slowly picking up over the course of the day and it's getting VERY windy as I type. No crashes that I am aware of and other than a flame out here and there, everyone has 2 rounds finished. I'm gonna try to place the results, but don't hold me to them. Here's where they'll be eventually,[link]http://www.desertaircraft.com/shootout_2005/results_1.php[/link] , and will be official then.
Sportsman:
1- Eric Powell
2- Bernie Boland
3- Joe Mac Gregor
4- Phil Oubre
5- Billy Adams
Intermediate:
1- Ryan Gonsoulin
2- Mark Lattimore
3- Dean Bird
4- Bill Ritchey
5- Brad Hooper
Advanced:
1- Kyle Woyshnis
2- Steve Hannah
3- Timothy May
4- John Wondra
5- Larry Arseneau
Unlimited:
1- Wayne Geffon
2- Will J. Berninger
3- Joe McBride
4- Jeffery Szueber Jr.
5- Adam Bry
Invitational:
1- Quique
2- Frazer
3- Mark Jr.
4- Bernd
5- Chip
6- McConville
7- Moi
8- Jason Noll
9- Peter G.
10- Sean
11- Andrew
Remember, these are really bad guesses for the IMAC classes, and I think most of the Invitational is correct. (All fixed and as official as the DA site has them)

RE: 2005 Tucson Shootout stories and write-up
Apparently I'm still no good with the camera, even with it in my pocket. The only pics I have right now are from the practice field. I will try and take some tomorrow, now that the 1st day is complete. I have to post this pic for Andrew though... it's only fair...

Thanks, Jason for the heads-up and good luck! So far no scores posted on the DA site. And...if you happen to run into Mr. Geffon, please tell him Lee and Mark say hi and congrats on his great showing so far...
oh...and Andrew told me he had some retribution photos of you he was hoping to post... pretty cool of you to post it yourself

Andrew is using his 102" QQ Yak, as is Mark Leseberg and Joe McBride (I think). Chip is using his 34% CHP Extra and I'm gonna use my SX, if Don's done with it on Saturday. I think I heard a few more pilots using 100cc size planes, but can't remember. Off to bed...

Never say die Mitch! What's up man? Is that red Extra that crashed at the XFC that one time fixed yet? I'm sure if you were at Tucson John would shake his head and go "tisk tisk tisk", lol.

Hey JAS,
Is anyone running singles (Ex. ZDZ Super 80) in the 33% Airplanes, or are we just talking 100cc twins here?
Thanks Dude, and Good Luck!
