I plan to fly Sportsman with the UL Giles and OS 1.6FX. I am a little worried about the unknowns.[&:]

I will start out in Basic, probably flying a 1.20 powered Cap or Extra (have both). I may move up to Sportsman after a couple of contests, will see how it goes.

I'm toying with the idea of getting a H9 260 w/ DA50. Will be my first gasser.

For the poll, it would be nice if the results could be broken down by class. IOW, what size models are the Basic pilots going to fly, Sportsman, etc.

If the building season goes as expected I will have a Hurley 35% Extra with an engine on it and a handful of servos. I will also have a GP 33% Extra with a ZDZ80 with a can as my back-up. I will try Sportsman again and will try to practice before coming to my first event.

NC is great! I was a noob and recieved a TON of help this year. I just hope that I can find a local IMAC buddy to practice with, there are none at my field. When I hand the Aresti to my friends they all give that confused dog look, funny to watch but not funny for practicing.

P.S. Hubb: I have a Pro Zinger on my Yak right now, don't tell anyone..... (If this sentence is blurry read the one in the middle)

I'm either flying one of these.........in Basic (Havne't tried IMAC yet)

35% Aerotech Edge 540 with 3W106 pipes. (been flyihg for about 8months, just tooling around)

32% Aero-FZD Su-26 with 3W100-106 pipes. (not finished yet)

For Pattern I flew sportsman (basic) with an Eclipse and YS140L last year. I crashed that plane, and rebuilt it. I also acquired a brand new one that I'm working on now. I only got to compete a few times last year so I'm going to stay in Sportsman for now.

Spun,

There is a one day basic and sportsman clinic in Meza AZ that should be very valuable to you. It would definatley be worth the drive. Bill Hempel is going to give a short lesson on aircraft set up. Details can be found at www.imacwebscore.com. You should look into it.

I will be flying Sportsman again with my Great Planes Patty Wagstaff with a Brison 3.2. Hopefully I can keep it in one piece this year.

My wife and I had a great time at the NC region contests we made it to last year and are looking forward to getting to more next year.

Ansy,
I'm going to try to get out there. If my schedule (Marine Corps) will allow it. I am lucky enough to live in an area with several IMAC pilots including Smokin' Joe so theres a lot of help in this area. I'm definately going to try to make it out though.

Serious bagger!
Diablo's looking out for his investments - He sells more props to us in Intermediate and below than to you guys in Advanced and Unlimited. I believe he'd go back to Basic if he thought he could sell even more. Contests are his storefront and he loves the wind and paved runways.

Can't wait to get together with you gus again - this was a great year in NC
