Default What IMAC class and plane will you fly with in the 2006 season?

There has been some pretty heavy debate on the size plane needed to fly in each of the classes for IMAC. For fun lets see who and what you will fly with this season. This is to get an overall kinda feel of whats gonna be in the air this season. Also post a reply to your setup. Maybe this will help some folks just coming into IMAC and would like some sort of an idea of what they might want to try. On to the questions

I will be flying my wild hare extra 300lx with a 3w60 andmy back up plane will be a wild hare edge 540t with a 3w75.
I flew one contest last year with the edge and really enjoyed myself and I flew in the basic class. This up coming season I plan to make more contests if the time allows it.

I plan to fly basic this year since I did not make any contests last year but got in tons of practice.

I plan to fly an Ultimate. Which one depends. I own both the Wildhare and Great Planes though the Great Planes is not yet finished. It's gong to be about 2 lbs lighter the way it looks but I have flown the WH and it's a beauty on last years basic sequences.

I have flown this years baisc and intermediate sequences with a CG Sukhoi SU-26 and it handled them well using a YS140 Sport turning a Mezjlik 18X6 so that will be my backup plane if need be.

I may be completely outclassed but I plan to fly what I have. This will be my first season (or attempt at one).

Basic class, with a CG Super Chipmunk pulled by a Magnum 91RFS. As I see it, Basic is supposed to be for intro-level pilots and planes. That's pretty much me.

Mark, Dont worry about what everyone else flys. You got it right with basic being sometimes known as the "try me" class. The one contest I flew in basic I saw planes as small as a 40 size ultra stick to 40% extra 330 fly. When I flew I didnt go to win, I went to fly, have fun and get the first contest under my belt. All my goals where achieved LOL. My bigest worry was 2 flight lines working at the same time, I was told by some fellow fliers you wont even notice the other planes in the air too. How right they where, I was so busy concentrating on my flying I didn't even notice the 40% birds flying past my lil punney 28% edge LOL. Go fly have fun and enjoy yourself.

I will be flying sportsman this coming year probably for the entire season, maybe start intermediate towards the end if it goes good, but I dont know.
As of right now I fly my Carden Giles 300 for the seqeunce stuff. Has a 3W 140 and tons of power, and the 40% Aeroworks Edge 540/DA150 I've been coming up with a freestyle.
But I really, really would like to get a 40% Carden 330 for the spring to fly as my main plane. I hope to have one for next season. I would like the yak too, but no one is selling them built yet.

35% Radiocraft extra (Irreplaceable airplane IMHO), 3W 100, airmodels 26x12 3blade, Hitec 5945's soon to be upgraded to 5955.

34% extreme aircraft extra, BME 105, proZinger (thats right) 26x10, Hitec 5945's, 5735 Rudder. not finished yet, but I expect this to be my practice / everyday plane.

I fly the Unlimited class in the North Central region

someday I will go 40% but I have other priorities in my life. I also believe that a good 35% is just as competetive as a 40 in Unl.

40% Carden Edge - 3W-150, Will probably fly 1/2 year in Intermediate and the other 1/2 Advanced. This will be my 4th year and I'm already having withdrawls from this season being over. What a great bunch of people we have in the NC Region, and our CD's are " THE BEST". If your in this region and have not tried it, you'll find a load of guys and girls (mostly wives so don't get to excited) willing to help you through every step. A lot of wives and girlfriends put in some long hard hours calling and judging or working impound or refreshments. Thanks to all of you that might read this...

Two H9 Extra 330's, 33%ers
Both ZDZ 80's for power
JR 8611's (singles on each surface)
One is a 330s and other is a 330L recovered.
Sportsman is the class I will TRY to fly, will be second year at it.
Will also TRY and compete at the NATS again and as many contest in the NC region as I can.
As Lew said all the contest in NC is fun and organized.
My hats off to all the IMAC committees and CD's.

I will be flying sportsman with my H9 EDGE 540 with a DA-100 and 25X12 3 bladed prop 2nd year in IMAC and love it. Later on in the year I will have my 37% YAK 54 with a DA-150 up and flying. I have most of the parts just in to get the plane in !!!!

Basic or Sportsman. I didn't get to as many contests last year as I'd hoped.

Planes:
WM 80" Patty Extra--G62 on C&H
BME 85" Edge--G62 on C&H--still building
Kangke Laser--G62 on C&H--still building--crashed my first one last month[:@]
GP Pitts--G45 on C&H--more of a sport plane with this powerplant. Still building
WM 90" Extra--GT-80 on C&H--waiting on UPS

I like the WM Patty the best. It's smooth and has plenty of power for any class except unlimited--not that I can fly unlimited anyway.

It will be my first year to give Imac a try. I'll be in basic. I'll be using a Wild Hare 28% extra special with a DA50.
I see the trend on the polls right now is a basic pilot, using a 40% gasser or larger .

I plan to fly in intermedaite next year with a 40%er to be named later. I have a 34% Edge 540T and don't like the way it flies IMAC, typical for an Edge. Don't need a 40%er, just really want one.

This will be my first year trying it out and I am going to go with Sportsman I believe. I've got a H9 33% Extra 'S' to use at the moment. Hope to get something different over the winter but if not I should be alright. I'm going to try and mimic Roger's fine flying ability and have fun (most important). I'll probably only make 3-4 events.
