I dont have a problem with the sound tests, its just some people may not have access to a good sound meter, etc, and may show up and get sent away, if that was the case at least give them a warning but dont turn them away. I guess you can just mix your ATVs to not give max throttle on the ground and change it in the air.

OK, since its being done on the ground and not in the air, then in flight sound scores will be waived?

Or does everybody get 10's on the in flight sound score for passing the ground test?

Not trying to be difficult, but ground test do nothing...its in flight where it matters, if its too loud, judges ground the contestant, change props, whatever, fly again...see what happens.

Thanks Ron. I'm glad to see someone taking the initiative to help reduce noise at IMAC events. See you on Friday.

The first Pensacola IMAC is in the record books with 32 entries from six states. The weather was great, with just enough wind to keep the flyer's on their tows, and furnish a breeze to keep everyone comfortable. The sound issue never materialized. We ran a few sound checks on Friday, and EVERYONE tested was so far below the max level, it was decided to skip the rest of our entries. All of the comments I received were nothing but positive. If you stayed home because of the sound issue--you missed out on a good time. We have already started to plan for 2007----hope to see you there.

Ron, Tony and the whole crew did a great job hosting their first IMAC event. Weather was great (a little hot but what do you expect for FL). WIth 32 entries, 2007 will only be better. I can't weight!

I to would like to congradulate Ron and Tony for a job well done. I think everyone had a great time. I Also want to thank all my fellow pilots for their generousity in helping the basic pilot who lost his plane. We took up a collection and got over 400 to give to him at the awards ceromoney. Job well done guy's. I think that this type of caring attitude towards our fellow competitors is whats sets us appart from any other sig group. We truley care about one another. A contest is not just a contest but a family reunion as well. It was great to see all of my friends from the south central and southeast. Guy's thanks for making this contest a great one.

Let me add my praises to the Pensacola IMAC meet. Thanks to Ron Bullard, Tony Stillman, and the rest of the club members who made this sucessful contest possible. It's been a long hard road to stir up interest in IMAC in Alabama and NW Florida and good events like this one really help bring in new pilots who would not have tried competition otherwise. Thanks too, to all you guys who traveled in from far places to attend - couldn't have full, competitive clases unless you came. Ron and Tony - we're looking forward to the next one!

Now, a shameless plug for the Alabama IMAC contest coming up on Aug. 26-27. Don't forget us!

Thanks again,
Chris Tomberlin

I went to watch some flying on Saturday and was very impressed. I had never seen any IMAC flying contest and the flying skills in the upper classes were unreal. I had just finished my first gas plane the week before (50cc QQ Yak) so I couldn't fly with you all but look for me soon. I was also impressed by how freindly most of the competors were. I did quite a bit of nosing around and just about everyone was willing to talk to an IMAC dummy.

Now if I can just learn how to do a loop. [:@]

Anyone have the complete standings for the contest. If so post them here or email them to me so I can get them to Kevin Tran to update the Shootout standings.

A short review of the Pensacola IMAC.

On June 17th and 18th Northwest Florida Modelers, Inc. held their first IMAC contest. Tony
Stillman, owner of Radio South was the CD and was assisted by Ron Bullard. Considering this
was our first IMAC event, expectation had been set at twelve to fifteen competitors. The final
count was 32 from six states. The turn out was a most pleasant unexpected surprise.

The contest was held at Escambia County Model Park, a relatively new flying site acquired by the
club with two paved runways and plenty of open flying space. Numerous visitors expressed their
admiration for our flying site.

Weather was never a factor with cloudless skies and light to moderate winds from the south.

Our club is really enthusiastic about the response we have received with the event and are
beginning to plan for next year.

I would like to express my personal appreciation to all of the contestants. The sportsmanship and
support for the event was greatly appreciated.
