IMAC Apps available
Everyone,
Nick White and myself have developed apps for both Apple devices and Android devices. Both are free and can be downloaded from both the Apple App store and the Android Market. Just do a search for IMAC Lite in both places and you will find them. Both work on all devices both phones and tablets and are current as of this week Just some things that are included. Caller Mode, contest locations (searchable on the Android version only), All current rules for the AMA and IMAC, Both US and International Websites for IMAC (currently only on the Apple version), a tips and tricks section with articles from Peter Goldsmith, Bruce Hanley and others. All current sequences in PDF format, the Apple version currently have written sequences that were produced by Kent Porter. If you have any suggestions or comments, feel free to email me at All suggestions and comments are welcome. I'll add some screen shots in the next couple of posts Nick is doing all of the developing for the Android version and while fairly new at it is doing a wonderful job with it and I am doing all of the developing for the Apple version so the screenshots are going to be from the Apple version |

RE: IMAC Apps available
Thanks :D
Version 2.1 will be out either late next week or early the following week Here's a short list of the changes in version 2.1 Caller mode has an options button that now allows you to start the sequence over, close Caller mode or stay where you are (just in case you accidentally hit the Options button The contest location map now includes all contests worldwide, displays all contest information that I have correctly and the map is completely searchable Improvements to many of the interfaces that make it easier to chose things Please if you see anything else you think would be a good addition or a problem, let me know Here is a link to view the screenshots for 2.1. The link displays OK with Internet Explorer but is way better with Firefox or Apple's Safari web browser. Just click on each picture to open it full size http://gallery.me.com/bubbagates#102323 |

Version 2.1 is now in review at Apple. I except a release date of early next week. Time is typically 7 business days for a review
Some screen shots of 2.1 Here is a list of the changes Caller Mode now includes an Option button that allows you to Stay Where you are just in case you hit the button by accident, Close Caller Mode, which returns you to the Sequence listing and Start the Sequence Again for when your pilot is coming around to start his second sequence. The Contest location map now is based on a custom and searchable map and includes all contests worldwide Other enhancements include tables to clean up the interface at the beginning of Caller mode and all Sequences, both the Flimsies, TAS Unknowns, and Written, are now in the same place and are in a table format as well |
RE: IMAC Apps available
A quick question for you about the caller mode.
I downloaded the app to my I-pod. When I run caller mode it simply showed the maneuver diagram. Should there be a voice with so I can practice with it in this mode, or is the caller mode simply supposed to provide the list for a human to read? Oh, also, any chance you will incorporate Pattern routines also? |
RE: IMAC Apps available
No voice at this time. Apple pulled the API for it for some reason
Caller Mode is designed for someone to act as a caller for a pilot during a contest. The next release has some enhancements However you can have your iPod read the written sequences for you that are included. You'll have to enable Accessibility in setting on the iPod Touch then make sure you read the message that shows about how to navigate because your swiped and taps all change. Once enabled, you can actually slow down how faster it reads a document to you |
RE: IMAC Apps available
Just downloaded it to my iPhone 4. <div>
</div><div>It works great, no bugs that I could find. I am by no means a fantastic pilot, nor have I entered any competitions, but it still is a useful app. I'm going to bring it to the field and try out some of the patterns and learn from it. </div><div> </div><div>I like that the files are PDF's. It gives you far more freedom when viewing than other formats. Everything is smooth and the inclusion of contest rules is welcome. </div><div> </div><div>Best of all is the Aresti dictionary - I would be pretty lost without it...</div><div> </div><div>Excellent app! </div><div> </div><div>Graeme</div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div> |

RE: IMAC Apps available
could you let me know where you got the written knowns?
I fly sportsman and was looking for a written description and name of the maneuvers. You have it all but is there a text file I could get so I could record my own audio call notes for my mp3 player? I have one built as a virtual caller for practice. Let me know Thanks Great app |
RE: IMAC Apps available
Kent Porter from the SE region supplied me with the word documents, I converted them to PDf files. Send me an email to and I'll respond with whatever version of whatever sequence you want

RE: IMAC Apps available
Bill, I love your app. When will the new 2012 contest start showing up on the app map? and how will we tell them apart from the 2011 ones that are on the map now, or is there a setting I'm missing to bring them up on my map?

RE: IMAC Apps available
Monte,
That amp is based on google maps and as soon as the contests are all posted for all areas then I will update it. |
RE: IMAC Apps available
Hi,
I just discovered and tested your app and I think it is great, very usefull. Something I've been thinking about for long but got it done now. Thanks a lot to both of you for your effort. I think I'm going to share it with my colleagues here in Europe, but I wonder if you are open and willing to include non US activities and also pattern flying schedules. Kind regards |
RE: IMAC Apps available
luk,
I can include a lot of things though at this time development on all my apps have all but come to a stop do to a serious injury I took a few weeks ago. However, about a year ago, I did talk to the pattern folks and they mainly felt that they did not need an app but if you can show me enough interest, like a few hundred people, that would be interested then I'll do an app. I will also need a lot of help designing the app for pattern as I do not fly it and that help MUST be consistent and ongoing, I'm kind of a stickler for proper and up to date information As far as non-us related IMAC items, I've been asking for people to step up and give me info for a least a year now with only Australia answering the call Also, the main discussion for the App is on the IMAC website, you would be better asking questions over there or emailing them to |

I want an app that levels my wings!!

Great App. Best |
RE: IMAC Apps available
I wanted to down load the IMAC app. Is it free or do I have to pay .99?
|
RE: IMAC Apps available
The Apple version is 99 cents It's called IMAC Pro (originally it was IMAC Lite)
The Android version called IMAC Pro is also 99 cents There is an Android version called IMAC Lite that is free but is somewhat limited. |
RE: IMAC Apps available
Bill, Thank you. Great app.

RE: IMAC Apps available
Great app Bubbagates!!
Have a look at Who's Flying Where, a free app that I think complements yours nicely! It lets you set up times when you plan to fly and look at your favorite venues to see if your buddies are there. When you get within 1000 feet of the flying field, it notifies your opted-in buddies that you are there! It's got some other features. Up for iPhone and Android. You can see screens and stuff at [link=http://www.whowhereapp.com]whowhereapp.com[/link] Also wondering if you IMAC guys would like a realtime scoring app that posts results right to your event listing on RCFlightDeck.com? I built one for the sailplane guys and I can whip one up for IMAC contests as well. Just wondering?! |

I built one for the sailplane guys and I can whip one up for IMAC contests as well. Just wondering?! I released a similar section of what is now called IMAC pro before you released the Who's Flying app, it's called Tracker. Also, myself and someone else have already done a live Scoring app that works very well with the Score! program and the IMAC Website. Officially all scores must go to the IMAC website, no other place is considered to be official and we have already run into issues when pilots view scores in other places and the RD finds an issue with them that requires a fix that changes the finishing order. Our scoring app is designed to eliminate those kind of things I do like the feel of your apps, and have installed yours onto my Apple devices but found out in our region, no one else uses it. I have not updated this thread in a very long time so the screenshots and descriptions are very old. |
RE: IMAC Apps available
Great to hear on all counts. I was not aware of the scoring app.
As you know, it takes users to make the software useful when dealing with a community tool like Who's Flying Where. As you know, I've been working on RC FlightDeck and getting it to where CD's can shave off several dozen working hours on their event. I know IMAC doesn't want to work with me but we do have some IMAC CD's using it and they really like the one-click AMA reports, accounting summaries, badges, pilot lists and other reports and conveniences that the software gives them. I had no idea you were such a prolific developer!! Do you have a link to your scoring app? |
