28% extra aileron servo?
I am getting hardware together for a 28% extra 330, and would like an opinion on some servo's.
Would one 9252 be enough for an aileron on a 28% extra? Dimensions: 1.79" x 0.90" x 1.04" Output Torque: 91.6 oz./inch Transit time: 0.14 sec./60 degrees Weight: 1.75 oz. This is at 4.8 and they are not recommended for 6.0 Would there be any reason not to use a 9450 servo that is listed for car and boat use on an aircaft? Speed: .10 Sec/60 Degrees (at 6.0 Volts) Torque: 111 oz/in (8.0 kg-cm) (at 6.0 Volts) Weight: 1.94 oz (55 g) Length: 1.59" (40.5mm) Width: 0.79" (20mm) Height: 1.48" (37.5mm) |

Malibu,
That should be fine - but 110 - 120oz would better, especially metal gear. |

Are you inferring the 9350? :)

28% extra aileron servo?
Hi All,
Hate to disagree  ;) but on my 30% cap I'm running 9001's which are standard sized power (and I do fly 3d) and fairly quick....trust me these are upto the job!!! I would only change them for a faster servo and theyre plastic gears too!! From experience the servos with metal gears (when flying 3D) tend to wear quickly and with the geometry of the surfaces, the play in the gears is VERY noticeable. In fact the aileron servos have been the most trouble free servos (except for throttle!!). I would think along the lines of a 9202 which would keep things fairly cheap but very effective. Regards Rich |

3d_cap232,
are they just single 9001's in each wing? What do you think of 9202's in a 26% Extra (single)? |
28% extra aileron servo?
in my midwest 27% extra I got one standard Futaba servo in each wing panel and thats is perfect

28% extra aileron servo?
Well I have purchased five servos for a plane I have not purchased, Aerotech 330s 28%. Three 8411's for rudder and ailerons, and two 3301's for elevator. I hope these will all be sufficient. Thanks for all the response.

28% extra aileron servo?
Hi,
Sorry to put a late reply (been toooooooo busy), yes I am running single servos on each aileron, standard servos would do but you realy feel the diffirence by putting the coreless jobbies on! Cheers Richard |
28% extra aileron servo?
Thanks for the input Richard, I am satisfied with the servos I've chosen, so now for an engine and exhaust, then for the kit. Probably seems like a backward way of doing things, but it helps me from finishing a kit, then settling on the most important components, or even worse, having to change it to make things fit. lol

28% extra aileron servo?
Hi,
Funny you should say that, the reason I've been so busy is to retrofit a 3W75 in place of a ZG62 in my 30% cap!!! Involved alot of changing things to make it fit!!! Cheers Rich |
28% extra aileron servo?
Yeah Rich, I've been doing this a while and still sometimes you can't help it... like when you get a better engine... not your fault. :D All I can hope for is that my planning will pan out. This stuff is too costly for me to do the R&R myself, that's why I'm thankful for all of RCU! Good luck with the mod!
Cheers...Blake |
RE: 28% extra aileron servo?
I am running a single 9202 in a 30% carden and it handles good.
