DA-50 needs a IMAC plane!!!!!!!
ARFs
Hanger 9 Cap 232 80" World Models Extra. 84" Great Planes Wagstaff Extra300S 78" Sig Extra 300XS 73"-pretty small for a 50cc gasser Sig Sukhoi SU-31 76.75" Want a kit? Columbo Anderson 27% Extra 300L Midwest Extra 300S 80" Midwest Cap 232 80" Carden 88" (30%) Cap 232-- might be a bit too big for your engine. You probably won't get any 3D or "Stop and GO" with a 50cc on this plane. |
Or these......
This is a Yak-55 kit from Conachen Aircraft 85" wingspan. 27% scale. 1500 sq.in. 19-21 pounds 42cc--70cc engines

The Kangke Laser is just the right size, and a nice flying plane. Check out this video of a brand new DA-50 powering one:

Another vote for the CA-27%. We had a ZDZ-50 in ours and it was extremely aerobatic and dead stable in high Alpha manuvers. (Had and was- since sold the plane for 38% CA)

RE: DA-50 needs a IMAC plane!!!!!!!
Hello,
We will have our next run of 80" Veloxs in late October designed around the 50cc engines. Thanks JOhn www.aerotech-rcmodels.com |
RE: DA-50 needs a IMAC plane!!!!!!!
Hi John!
80" Velox sounds pretty cool... what's the wing area on that plane? |
RE: DA-50 needs a IMAC plane!!!!!!!
Hello,
Without looking at the plans I think is 1178sqin. Its a fun plane Two piece wing, stabs all the goodies. Later John www.aerotech-rcmodels.com |
RE: DA-50 needs a IMAC plane!!!!!!!
Another vote for the Colombo Anderson 27% Extra 300L... these planes are the new standard for all other kits out there. They 3d and IMAC with the best of them.
www.rcsuperstore.com is the only one carrying them now because Don at planesplus has stopped. Steven |
RE: DA-50 needs a IMAC plane!!!!!!!
:D I have a Aero Works 29% Edge w/ ZDZ 50 weights 15.5#
60 flights so far, Great combo |
RE: DA-50 needs a IMAC plane!!!!!!!
I would also have to vote for the 29% Aeroworks Edge 540 for the DA 50.
Mine has a Fox 52 and comes out to be approx. 13.5 lbs Beautiful flying plane, forgiving yet very aerobatic. |
RE: DA-50 needs a IMAC plane!!!!!!!
put away some time for sheeting that 29% edge,(the ca has everything pre sheeted)of very good quality.Id also like to see that 29% edge that claims to be 13.5 # on a scale....
SINCE WHEN HAS DON STOPED CARRYING CA??? |
RE: DA-50 needs a IMAC plane!!!!!!!
Has anyone seen the H9 80" Cap fly with a DA-50?
I'd be interested to hear about how it fit in the cowl, final flying weight etc.. |

RE: DA-50 needs a IMAC plane!!!!!!!
My H9 80" Cap 232 is awaiting it's DA-50 as well.
It should fit great. I ordered and received my 2.25" standoffs from Aerographix in Canada; they will give me the 6" I need from the firewall to the back of the spinner. http://www.geocities.com/roger_forgues/contents.html The firewall will have to have a hole opened up for the carb to go into, about 3/4" back. I am going to use the Slimline Pitts they sell, with a Menz 22x8 prop. I had a H9 Cap with a Moki 2.10, this one will only be about 4-6 ounces heavier, with lots more power! It's gonna be fun...:D |
RE: DA-50 needs a IMAC plane!!!!!!!
Just for the record, PlanesPlus still carries the CA line. I ordered a 27% Extra from them on Monday of this week.

I just finished the installation of a DA-50 in my 80" Cap. I've put about 6 flights on it now and it is AWESOME! Unlimited vertical? That goes without saying. LOL Final flying weight with fuel is a tad over 16lbs.
Here are some pix of the installation... http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/upfi...63/Rp44022.jpg http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/upfi...63/Tr50495.jpg http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/upfi...63/Mk26197.jpg http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/upfi...63/Bw71192.jpg |
RE: DA-50 needs a IMAC plane!!!!!!!
Even better than the H9 Cap is the MIDWEST cap with a DA 50. As you said you wanted to build, and you can get into the fues with your dremel tool and lighten the hell out of it. I had one witha DA 50 that was a blast. Best 3d, sequence plane I ever owned. That is until a friend handed me a check and said "that should cover the expesess, I want it!"
So I need to build a new one for me!!! Rob T |

I was wondering what you didn't like about the H9 CAP that you flew? At least I'm assuming that you flew one, since you said that the Midwest CAP was better? |
RE: DA-50 needs a IMAC plane!!!!!!!
It's better because it is a KIT! And that's what jon asked for originally if you read his post. With a kit you have the ability to lighten the hell out of it, and select the right wood for the right spot.
If you look inside both of them you will notice that the Arf looks like it was a copy of the Midwest. I think that the flying will be very close if they come out at the same weight, but I have not seen an arf yet that could not have been built lighter. Just my 2 cents. Rob |

I don't know what post you are reading...but Jon said he would prefer a kit OR ARF. Also, just because it is a kit doesn't automatically mean that it is better, and the weight isn't really comparable unless you are talking about the same plane (to some extent). I've seen and heard about several poorly designed kits out there...likewise I've seen and heard about several excellent ARFS. Are all the proportions, areas, and control surfaces the same on both models? I'm not saying that the Midwest CAP isn't good...I'm just saying that your statement that it is automatically better because it is a kit is flawed. Unless they are IDENTICAL? In which case the lighter of the two would be better. But I'm guessing that they aren't identical. P.S. - I know the Midwest Extra is a real good flying kit, too...but without serious modifications there are many ARF Extras better. More P.S. - At least we both agree on the DA50! :D |
RE: DA-50 needs a IMAC plane!!!!!!!
thanks for the reply guys i have recently purchased a CA 27% extra... thanks. PS. Now i am leaning towards the DA 50 the plane is a 85" wingspan but i am open to suggestions i am wanting to have umlimited vertical and i don't know if the DA-50 will have enough power(???????????)
